In your second pick(not quoted) can you move that small top piece back over the pick ups some?
I think what makes it a reverse is the darker colour being on the inside vs dark border.
So the smaller shape but back down there the bigger blob was. I took some pics and peeled them off already. I'm going to give this a few goes with the vynil. i have my tracings so it'll be an easy cut out. Not sure about the gold either. I like that it compliments the D on the headstock but I think gold would best be left in very small amounts OR ALL IN GOLD.

Got in my D-Bird today. Haven’t even gotten a chance to plug it in yet. (Had to take the wife out for St Patty’s day) A little light unplugged playing before bed was all I could get in. Can’t wait to plug it up tomorrow and let it rip!!!

Well, after getting the bass cleaned up and giving it a nice setup it has lived up to my expectations. This is my first experience with the super series and I am loving it!

If so, congrats!Initial impression... disappointed in the pickups/ needs a preamp. I'm good with everything else but not particularly blown away. For comparison the MIC Kingston Super 5 I had and this I think are on par with each other for materials fit and finish but for tone and value I have to give it to the Kingston. It's a few hundred dollars less at 1250 (i got mine be stock for 1050 due to an oil mark around the edge of one of the knobs where my fingers created bigger oil marks to cover it) and you get a ton of bass, has a great preamp and killer pickups with series parallel switches for each. I added USA Bartolini pickups and preamp to it for another $435 and came in under the price of a passive only DROC. At full price an upgraded Kingston matches the Droc standard. IMO, the DROC standard 4 is slightly over priced or they need to toss in a preamp at the current price.
The tone control wide open on this Droc sounds like a P bass around 70-80%. I opened it up and everything inside looks fine, i compared the wiring to the diagrams @kev451 posted and it's identical. Ran through 3 different amps set flat and it's the same on each. Through pedals no problem, sounds great. Super easy to get "THAT TONE" with my vintage Microtubes and Harmonic Booster.
I ran the pickups from as high as 2.5mm to string and as low as 4mm. I'm aware of these pickups being darker and the other set having a more open tone, so I'll be looking to swap some of those in.
BLUF I traded my sandberg for this and if I could have gotten my hands on a Droc prior to I would never have made that trade. BUT I'll be alright and the sun will rise tomorrow. I needed the longer scale for some very low tuning stuff and the DW will serve its purpose. I have some F# Kalium stings coming, hipshot solo bridges, and I'm debating gotoh resolite or ultralight clovers. The ones I had in the drawer are 1/2" and were too big. I have a two DG tone capsules, one being a two knob version out of a spector and a two knob 3-band audere. In leaning towards the audere since it won't require any drilling. The other big win is weight. I have the droc at 7.3lbs and the Sandberg was 10.2lbs. I love the strap locks and I love the comfort of it hanging and how balanced over all it is.

So, I just got done playing through some of my favorite D standard/ drop C stuff on the new D bird and I’ve formed some opinions:
I’m really digging the tones I get from the pickups and even the bridge only setting that many don’t care for I found a niche for. It’s very effective in boosting that edge you sometimes need when drop tuned and playing on the “E” string to keep it from getting too boomy. Sounds great with just a hair of dirt and a pick. The other pickup positions are great. Each has its own distinct voice and I can see myself using them all.
Balance is excellent (speaks to intelligent strap pin location) and the fit and finish - especially the aquamarine sparkle finish - is gorgeous and top notch. Weight is awesome. Dingwall is really killing it in the lightweight department seeing as how both my D-bird and AB1 5er come in just under 8 lbs each.
The neck is a little chunkier than I expected (front to back) and is 100% P bass all the way. If you like a P, you’ll like this neck. My AB’s neck is noticeably thinner but it’s nothing I can’t adapt to (my Spectors’ neck through necks are P-bassesque). The neck however, probably also due to its thickness, is rock solid. The bass was tuned (but not strung) BEAD when I got it. I took it up to standard and back to D standard then to drop C and the neck didn’t move at all. No truss or bridge adjustments were required. Solid.
I only have one real gripe and it goes for all the imports (and it’s the same for Ibanez imports) I’m just not a fan of “cosmo black” or “smoked chrome” or whatever you call it hardware. It gets that patina on it and looks bad much quicker than the other finishes, even if you polish it regularly. I love that it has import ultralights on it but I really want to put a Detuner on it and I don’t think they make them in cosmo black. You just can’t find them. That means I have to change out all the hardware to either black or chrome and spend hundreds more instead of being able to just buy 1 tuner if I want the hardware to match. That’s my only complaint. If it’s a cost thing, I get it, but I really wish they’d put black or chrome hardware in the imports.

@beatdatthang I just swapped the tone pot out for a 500k... MUCH BETTER and less muddy
What are you playing back through @Nuage420? Headphones or amp?
The reason I ask is lots of folks like to record their dingwalls in passive mode.
The D bird is obviously designed for a usage vs the NG for example with the different woods and preamp.
your impressions are not common ones really. Muddy is not a description I’ve ever heard of dingwall. Generally speaking I personally have a hard time going back to other basses due to the lack of clarity in comparison

An all tube amp, a 3 tube pre with 400watt A/B and a little peavey combo.
So putting in this 500k pot and .1 cap solved it. It was like wet blankets were lift from the tone.
With the 250k pot there just wasn't a lot of topend and it reminded me of a P bass rolled off a little unless I was in BM or B. But then I had to goto the amp to add back the low end.
I'm good now though and it sounds like what I thought it would.
I went to install the Audere and discovered I need a stereo barrel jack. So that'll be down the road.
Wow. I’m so used to dingwalls sizzling up top with my gear that I wouldn’t have imagined that outcome. My trebs hardly pass center detent in most scenarios. From Ampeg to epifani to Genz to Mesa that has never been a factor.
Glad you got it sorted for your signal path. Looking forward to further mod and review updates
