Dingwall Owners Club

When my 6-way switch arrived it was built with a 1/4” solid shaft pot. All of the existing pots on my Super J were 6mm which is a hair smaller. I reached out to Jason at Fret Nation about it and he promptly and for free shipped me a 1/4” Dingwall knob. I offered to pay for it but he declined. Excellent customer service and I just wanted to give a shout out for it.

That bass is a tone machine now :bassist:

How did you get that bridge!?

The Korean factory has the capability to do compound radius FB's whereas the Chinese factory does not. So both Hellboys and Standard 5's are compound.

I've seen formulas for calculating compound radius variables. They didn't make sense to me, so I used CAD to model the arc at various points on the fretboard while keeping the path under each string perfectly straight. I attribute that to why our radius values are different than the norm.
Something I've been confused about from the website specs is whether the 25" radius is at the bridge or at the heel of neck

"Fingerboard radius – compound, 7-1/2” (at the nut) to 25” (at the bridge)"

Peeled the vinyl decal off my Dbird. I think there’s a bit more shimmer in the highs.

Post pics! I’m planning on doing the same. The facts that it’s just a decal and easily replaced and that it’s obscuring part of that beautiful aquamarine sparkle finish is reason enough. I haven’t done it yet, but it’s gonna happen soon.

Posting here since this is like, one of two places that I actually care to check in with when I cruise to talkbass.
Taking a long break from the site. Trying in general to pull back from wasting time online, and, starting with this site. I don't spend a ton of time here, but, the time I do spend here is largely unproductive. I also have a bit of negative feelings towards the owner and staff here, how they treat certain folks (and to an extent, how they treat certain groups of folks plus the obvious and inexcusable favoritisms).
I already spend less time on Facebook - that was something I started dialing down well over a year ago. But, that'd be the place to reach me if wanted. I try to pop on there twice a day at most, but, will see @/mentions and DMs then.

Keep rockin' on, and, I'll check in here from time to time, hoping to see tons of good discussion and fancy Dingwalls to drool over!

I get it, this site has some unfortunate "quirks" lets say. Breaks are healthy and I've been pondering the same thing as I get hooked into too much time online. This place will be here when we're missing our fix of Dingwall talk.

I did the same with FB and IG. Dramaticaly scaling back the social media has done wonders for my mental health as well as productivity. Enjoy the break!

I just used tracing paper to get the shape and used a razor to cut it out. I did a second one and got a little more smart about it and transposed the pencil lead directly onto the backing on the vynil.
I freehand and didn't use any straight edges or stencils to help with the round parts but if you have them available it'll give you a better result. I think mine came out decent but if you're holding the bass in your hands and look close you can tell it wasn't machine cut.
