Played a pretty dope Cinco De Mayo festival yesterday at a massive compound near Lakeside, CA. Lake Jennings in the background.. There were many "infused" booths, great reggae bands, a smoking taco truck, much more.. Eric Wilson's new band Spray Allen was there, Tomorrow's Bad Seeds, quite a few others. I was the only Dingwall player there, had no one to talk shop with about how awesome Dingwall basses are. 
It was a pretty darn ok day...
Gotta love the 12 pack of Liquid Death water on stage behind me.. felt like the cool kids again with a 16 oz can in my hands, hahaha! (no drinky for 7 years)

I wish UPS would stop lying to me and just tell me my delivery is rescheduled.
Oh dude, I hate UPS.
I had a not-expensive package due for delivery a couple weeks ago with signature confirmation. First delivery attempt, I didn’t hear them knock. I work from home. So I sign the delivery slip for them to just leave the package the next day like it says you can do but of course the next day they left another slip and wrote that they need a direct signature. Third day I left a note for them to knock LOUDLY and only then did I get my package.
FedEx FTW: Friday delivery scheduled for three packages, no knock (three people home), no slip left. Rerouted to local FedEx/Kinkos branch for Saturday, but "business not open" at 5:34 p.m., despite the fact that I was standing in that open business at the time. Rescheduled for Monday by noon; two of three packages arrive late in the afternoon. Third rescheduled for Tuesday by 12, then listed as by 3:35, then nothing. No update on Wednesday. On Thursday, it was listed as "delayed." On Friday, I bought the items locally. The third package has now been "delayed" for two weeks. At this point, I'm treating it as a science experiment to determine exactly how long FedEx's incompetence can continue if left undisturbed. Oh, yes...that Guinness record will be mine....

Hey...not sure if it's the right place to ask...has any dingwall owner play short scale and medium scale basses with parallel frets exclusively before switching to dingwall? It is a hard transition or a big stretch? I know dingwall designed with ergonomics in mind...but I'm still kinda worries about the extra long scale for my wee hands...
I'm gasing hard for a regular scale 5-string dingwall (with 37" B) right now...but it's kinda impossible for me to go into a store and try one of these given the stock condition in Ontario Canada...

My #1 is a Muckelroy 33" scale.
The short reach strap lock socket on the Dingwall makes it an easy transition.

My first bass was a short scale, cause you know - "I have small hands". I quickly moved to a 34, then 35, then bought a Dingwall long scale. Easier to play the Dingwall... The newer ones also have a reach reducing pin if you do feel a little stretch. Hasn't been an issue for me, though. I have two Dingwall basses with the reach reducing pin and I don't use it.
I went from a little violin bass copy to an ABI. So a big difference, but I didn't have any trouble; and I have small hands too.
Obviously YMMV and trying one out would be the best, I took the plunge myself and didn't regret it.
Where in Ontario are you? If you're borderline Quebec (Ottawa region or Kingston east), you're welcome to try mine.

My first Dingwall Dilemma is at hand I need your opinions...
A drummer friend of mine just got hired by a 80s hair metal tribute singer/BL that does corporate and other high end events. Of course my drummer buddy threw my name in the hat as a possible bassist. And, believe it or not, I really like money so obviously I'm interested.
Here's the dilemma - it's wigs, costumes, full "era" style gig. None of my parallel fret basses that would look "suitable" for an 80s gig don't have half the sound my NG3 modded with FD3's does. I can nail every tone with this NG3. And it's a million times more comfortable to play, especially in the lower registers. I really am kinda over the parallel fret basses I own, they just dont feel "right" anymore. Not too hip on the sound anymore either.
So.. What would you do? Show up with the NG3 and see what happens? Bring a more "appropriate" bass that cant nail the tones or is a little less comfortable to play? First jam is this week. I added a little neck illusions bling to "Retro" it up a little bit and see if that helps with the first impression.
