Anyone? Looking for NG or combustion owners specifically...

Older Afterburners used to come with SKB Freedom cases, which appears to be the 1SKB-4 model now. It fits, but floats a little bit.

The 1SKB-44 is nicer and a little more robust, but seems slightly shorter inside. It will still close, but I am not sure if I would trust it for anything other than storage.

A buddy of mine has his in a generic Yorkville hard bass case and it fits. He's had it for many years, so there's no guarantee the dimensions are exactly the same, but I don't see why they would have changed. It is a snug fit.

Owner of an NG3, a Combustion and a custom ABII with an LSS Glockenklang pre.
The Combustion's G string saddle decided to dehorse itself during a set last night (it unscrewed itself).
If anyone has that same issue here's the fix (see screenshot).

I know Sheldon watches this thread (as does Mike does his for MTD USA and Roger for Sadowsky NYC).
All of us bassists should be so very thankful we have these master luthiers this easily accessible.

It's not a "hard case" but my Sadowsky Portabag can withstand darn near anything. I've flown with it a few times, all was good. Fits my AB2 just fine, I don't see why the NG/Combustion wouldn't work. I've actually been using that lately over the dingwall bag because of the extra storage space.

Man i am excited to have this bass in 2 days if all goes well. Edit: 1 day… 18 hours… 25 seconds. But who is counting right?

Can one get ABZs in glossy now ? Or am I seeing wrong and it is actually matte ?

I’m pretty certain you can order them that way

ultimately the main difference that it boils down to between an ABZ and an AB1 are the body wood.
The ABZ is supposed to be the lightest weight in the line but spec em how you like and that can obviously change the point of a light weight ABZ

Hey everyone I hope all is good! I used my Dingwall DRoc live for the first time yesterday. It was an outdoor show in Coney Island NYC. I’ve had the bass for about 5 months now but was using my Fender live. But I wanted to make this my main bass as I love the feel of the bass. Got this recording of it from a friend I think it def sounded good !


Let me know what you guys think if there are adjustments sound wise I should try. Thanks I hope everyone has an awesome weekend

I’ve had the bass for about 5 months now but was using my Fender live. But I wanted to make this my main bass as I love the feel of the bass. Got this recording of it from a friend I think it def sounded good !

sounds like a cross between Madball and Puya… more Madball.

tone is solid man. Of course it’s hard to tell from a cell phone vid but sounds tight. Maybe a bit more low end but again… cell phone vid listened to on a cell phone.

oh man you know Madball? Lol I’ve been on bills with them since the 90s in my other band. I knew Freddy way back when. I’m good friends with Hoya. I mess with him about bass stuff. They are great guys.
What was weird is I tried adding more but it started to muddy out. But I used a cab wi in belonged to someone else. I’m used to my 2x12 cab. But yeah your right I felt it needed some more lows. Just didn’t know if I was over thinking it.

mad ball is fun as hell! My fav “hardcore”ish band is Vision of disorder but Madballs 2.5 min songs slapped in the mix are awesome ways splash some HC in the variety.

I use the Bergantino Forte HP so I use some depending on where I’m playing. And VOD are awesome toured with them back in the late 90s, another great group of guys.
Yeah we are on all music platforms for free. Just look up Crazy Eddie or Crazy Eddie NYHC. You can also look up Fahrenheit 451 that was my other band. That’s also on all music platforms.
How would you recommend I use the high pass filter ? I’m new to using it so I’m unsure how to use it still.

I am sure you can if you pay for custom paint. But my bass (the one in the video) is an ab1 technically. He just made an error. But it is custom wood, custom paint… so abz or ab1 does not really matter. Same body/neck/electronics.

Sounds good for an iphone. I am impressed what phones are doing these days actually.

Keep in mind, the gloss adds 1/2 lb to the weight of the bass as per Sheldon. My SJ5XXX was originally supposed to be a satin finish, but Sheldon felt it impacted the tone and asked if I minded in gloss after the basecoat was on.

I’m not a diehard of the genre but I do appreciate it in my assortment of musical treats. I don’t know if I’m a diehard of any genre anymore.(probably still a metal head throughout I guess)

for the HPF apply it very simply. If your feeling boomy just dial it up a bit until the boomyness is gone. It probably starts at 30hz up to 120 generally, depending on the cab and the rest of your gear, you may set it between 40-60hz. Don’t worry about it changing anything else in your sound other then just tightening it up mostly.
