True to Korg’s claim, it has no problem handling that beast of a note. Pardon the dust, and one of my long gray hairs.

Also, this came with a six-way, purchased from and installed by FretNation, and I am VERY happy with the variety of tones. It’s just got the bridge solo swapped out in favor of middle solo, and I have to do some tinkering to figure out if they were able to retain the normal order for the switch that they list, or if they had to juggle them about a bit, but the six tones are quite distinct, and there’s not one that I don’t think I could readily use, depending on what the song needs. All six sound great.

I was about to buy that white one he’s playing but he didn’t have the fatty IIs in that moment. While waiting to get the pickups he showed me the NAMM Sklar and it was game over. He’s a good fella, that John Fox :thumbsup:

With a lot of talk about the Darkglass / Dingwall overdrive pedal, I have decided to get something that would be more up my street as I am not into overdriven bass sounds, but more of a traditional, clean and deep mellow tone player.

So here it is, my new Ampeg SGT-DI, last in a small chain comprising of a Line6 wireless receiver (mounted under the board), a Peterson Strobostomp Tuner, a Electrohamonix Hum Debugger, (yes you got it, removes the "hum" from single coil pickups like Jazz basses and the like), finally a Keeley Bassist Compressor, and the SGT-DI

I love everything about this pedal, its versatility, and comprehensive design, you can dial your tone without needing a sound engineering diploma!

This is the first I’ve heard of the Hum De-Bugger, and I only have one bass, a PJ parts bass, that would benefit…yet I am seriously interested.

I've used one on guitar before. I noticed a slight change in tone and it killed the sustain on the 12th fret of the high E. But that's probably not a note you're going to be playing on a bass ;) and I doubt you'd notice a tonal difference unless maybe your sound is super bright. Probably worth a shot.

Thanks for sharing! I wonder if FD3 and FD3N are the same pickups or not? Always been confused with it. I know that N stays for neodymium, if so what are the magnets in FD3 ?

FD3 are alnico, so there is definitely a tone difference. I find the FD3Ns to be higher output and a bit more “modern” sounding.

EDIT: FD3s are neodymium as well, my mistake

The 3n’s are the production version of the FD3(Canadian made).

generally speaking they don’t seem to articulate the same as the Canadian ones and the 3n’s have a hotter output.


My fav pick ups
Are the FD3s but in all transparency I really like the FD3ns for live performance.

Listening through my iPhone speakers, it seems the FDVs have a more open top end.

Would be interesting to compare those samples by loudness-matching them
