Hi Sheldon. Looking at Nolly's wenge headstock, I've noticed the new Super P neck no longer has countersunk machine heads, is this a new design? How did you manage to obtain the same string tension? i.e. are the new headstocks slightly more tilted than the previous design?
GW, once we started installing string trees, the countersunk tuners became less of a necessity and more of a burden - custom tuners, nearly impossible to do a matching finish without burning through on the sharp edges etc. All in all, we get a more even break angle on all strings now.
Good eye, GW! Looks like the scallop routing carries on out to the end of the headstock, further refining the cool design. The inlaid logo is sweet!
I liked the retro look of the badge, but this is much better! More in line with the overall quality of the basses.

Sorry to hear about that. I will keep my eyes peeled. The good news is that it is a very distinctive bass and in the grand scheme of things, should be fairly easy to track down if someone tries to sell it locally compared to other instruments that are more popular.
Received the Super J p/j today and I am loving it. I believe its the only bass I'll ever need, though I already want a fiver. But that will have to wait according to the wife. Never felt this way with a bass before.
As above very sorry to hear these devastating news about your bass being stolen, and also I agree this is not the average bass that someone can simply sell without it being noticed. You could start by putting up a picture in as many local store as you can around your area and of course a pic here too and perhaps in the Dingwall forum would be helpful so people would be able to recognize it, nearly every Dingwall has unique characteristics so one might be able to spot it if one knows what to look for.

Ouch. So senseless. I suspect that a lot of thieves don't realize that musos have such a strong emotional attachment to their instruments. Take my car, take my electronics, but don't take my bass...
Sorry to hear about this, there are so many pawn shops in Portland! Is there a way to let Guitar Center know about hot basses?

I'm getting really tired of thieves, my car has been hit twice this year, luckily my bass was up in the hotel room. What kind of crackhead breaks into a 95 Corolla? I won't carry a bass is I have to leave it in the car.

This was a bold thief, scary bold. My wife and I were both home at the time. She was in house in a back room and I was out back in my workshop. They just walked in the house through an open side door, the front door was locked, grabbed some stuff and walked out. Took my wallet, phone and 1 bass and out the door they went. My wife noticed that the side door was wide open soon after. Called the police, cancelled the credit cards immediately....
I am grateful that they just took some stuff and left and didn't assault my wife. She would have put the hurting on them though, she is tough!
I am notifying Portland Music stores that buy used gear. Watching craigslist and ebay. I also put a notice on the Dingwall forum as Sheldon suggested. Wait and see.

Well, have you at least taken down the Serial number? Or do you have a receipt of the store in which you bought it with the serial #?
I am asking this because... and I am not 100% sure about this but, chances are that the Dingwall company might have kept a record of your serial number linked to a pic of it and that way you might ask them kindly to provide you a copy of the pic and show it to all the stores and to us.
Besides, without proof of ownership of some kind how are you going to persuade a police officer that the bass they might have found belongs to you? I mean, Dingwalls are not packet of cigarettes, when I buy a Dingwall or any expensive instruments I make sure I keep the receipt, date of purchase, serial no. etc just in the eventuality it gets stolen. I even go as far as log pics and weight with my house insurance that cover every item of content.
In any case as I've said good luck finding it.
I make a point of picturing my basses well as well as scanning the receipts (and/or copying correspondence and Paypal transaction info for used items).

I keep an excel file, this is just a screen shot, but if you hover the mouse over the description you get copy of all scanned receipt, other photos etc.
Wow ! Nolly's Super P is amazing. I have always been a fan of wenge. I had a Warwick that had some of the most amazing low mid growl ever. Sadly I could never get comfortable with the neck shape (Louisville slugger) and string spacing. I guess I'm a 19mm guy, through and through.
Does anyone know if the inlaid D is a perm change? My next question........is Dingwall now sending out the Super P's with the new nickel strings? I missed them by a week when I ordered a bunch of new strings. I guess I'll just have to order another 4 sets in nickel.

GW, with this stable, deciding what to gig on any given night has to be a very tough choice.
