Is it for 100% and related to all 3-pickups models, e.g. NG-3? (Just little bit strange for me)

(I am sorry for this maybe stupid question but maybe you can refer me to some official specs where this info was provided for example)

Ebony is naturally the blackest I think but some woods take black stain and dye better then others.

I know the Hercules do (such as model #: GSP38WBK), as well as the guitar stands (I use model #: HCGS-414BLT). I use them for my DW 6ers and they’re perfect.

The name “neck” and “bridge” have no special meaning when it comes to these pickups, it just means they are opposite polarity. There is no reason you couldn’t go Bridge/Neck/Bridge if you wanted as well, just Dingwalls are usually setup Neck/Bridge/Neck.

Yes, that should be correct.

I think of the numbers in the opposite order, because I visualize it from the vantage point of wearing the bass.

As they label it, 4 should be all the way clockwise.

Yeah, that ("along with master volume and a 4-position Quad-Tone pickup selector that lets you solo each pickup or dial them in conjunction with one another.") is pretty clearly a copy/paste-mistake on Dingwall’s part: The ending "one another" implies the context of only two pickups.

TI flats just have their own thing going on. After the painfully bright break in period, they seem to loosen up and mellow. I like the dynamic range. TI’s like a light touch, but you can dig in. Really dig in, and they get kind of a sneezy thing going. Big, clear dynamic range. I really like them on the longscale AB, but you’ll need a special mixed set for that length.

They slap with their own flavor. I really like how soft and bendy they feel. Funny thing is since I’ve found my light set up, the TI’s now feel fairly stiff, and that’s the Super P. Especially after I had Boomer .030 nickel rounds on it.

The Payson flats do a very good job. On the Dbird, they feel just the tiniest bit stiffer than the TI’s on the Dbird. Probably has to do with the longer scale.

I don’t think there is another string out there like the TI flats, probably because of the expensive construction. They just have their own thing going on. I never really liked the TI flat B string. It’s a whopping .136 with no taper at the ball end. I’d run five strings E-C. TI flats last forever, so I don’t even blink at the price.

Id like to try the La Bella low tension flats, but they don’t seem to make a long enough set. I really liked these on a buddy’s short scale.

Im not complaining about the Payson flats. They sound and feel great, and go right on a Dingwall longscale. No problem recommending them, and I switch them out between the AB and Dbird.

Most other flats I’ve run into are just way too stiff and bright, I’m thinking chromes and other common flats.

Quick question. What is the difference between the FD3 and FD3N? Aren't both neodymium magnets? I know the "FD3N" is standard on the Combustions and the "FD3" are an option on AB/Z's.

Also I noticed that Bass Direct sells these pickups separately.

I believe FD3s are hand made in Canada and FD3Ns are outsourced.

The FD3n is a hotter output pick up then the FD3 but the FD3 s response is clearer and more defined.

Yes, I went in the attic to add backing.

Also dingwall was selling one with a dingwall logos wood backing plate. I’m not sure if they still do but it works great.

abz 6 string necks initially - a few minutes of pulling them apart and everything fits fine - just buy cheap ones m8

Shortly before heading off to NAMM, I scored a sweet old 4-string Voodoo Prima in excellent condition. I showed Sheldon some pics, and he remembered building the bass for Paul Slagle (who really loved wenge, and who I believe worked for Mike Tobias). It was very cool that Sheldon remembered the bass, and I am amazed at the condition, considering its age. As you would expect, it plays like a dream, and it is also fairly light. I just really have a thing for 4-string Dingwalls (this makes my 5th, plus a 5-string Z3).
