My Z3-5 is 9 pounds 3 ounces. Dual density Ash body, maple neck, wenge FB, walnut burl top.

I wouldn’t mind playing an AB-5 or 6 as they are certainly lighter, but as long as I can lift this current one I have no need of chasing an Afterburner. Maybe when I get older….

Sorry, yes it's a 4 string. I did swap out the tuners for the USA Hipshots and that is like a 3-4 oz savings

Thanks, notes made. I’m quite interested to see how the weight of my Mopar Purple NG3 is going to change, once all the mods are done. I’m getting pretty close, just waiting on a push/pull pot (the first type I ordered didn’t quite fit) and after all the wiring is done, I’ll just be waiting on black hipshots and Canadian knobs.

No, they were a custom order from D-Cline Designs. I’m not sure if he’s still making custom knobs, but he was able to make mine a perfect match for my body and top wood. It looks like his Facebook and instagram haven’t been active in a while, but you never know….

Those are great, and awesome Z, too! I messaged D-Cline like last fall a couple of times about knobs and never heard back, and then forgot about it entirely haha. I know there's others out there, too. Those just match so well I thought they came from Dingwall!

D-Cline had some activity on his instagram page in May. Maybe he’s getting back into it?

Do you already have the bridge on hand? If not, you might want to wait just a little bit, their bridge that is purpose made for D-Rocs is nearly ready.

This reminds me that I'd jump on one of their 6 string bridges except for the string angle issue not totally lining up. I hope they redesign it

The poster seems fairly knowledgeable but I wonder if he didn’t set the piece adjustment right? I was going to ask what were the spacings Payson sets when they send out (I’d assume 19 for 4 and 18 for 5?) I have both bridges here hidden somewhere so I will check if they are different. I’ll do the 5 first as I want to make a shim for the dbird.


If it does sit at an angle that’s not good... I guess I’ll find out soon lol.
