Dingwall Owners Club

I think it will be? I saw a video where Sheldon said he wanted it to be around the cost of an AB1. Street price of a 3 pickup 5 string AB1 is around $4700 CAD which is around 3.3k USD.
The current (January 2025) European price list for a standard AB1 5-string with 3 pickups is 4300 Euros which is approximately 4500 USD. That's a passive, maple necked base model.

There cannot be such a big discrepancy between the European and the US street prices.

The right situation I’d definitely put a master built onstage if I was playing stages the likes of Sklar.

I’m not in that situation and wouldn’t be taking it to the situations I’m in. lol.

Regarding Padalka, his brand had intrigued me before he moved to stoon and joined the dingwall team. That was very exciting news for that collaboration. I would like to see more of his designs on the side under his brand in the future alongside DW

That said, I bet he’d have great input towards the headless design DW

The price list I have is from 2024 rev 2 effective august 15th 2024, and I got the prices from dingwall in December 4th 2024. Have they raised prices again since then?

New.... strap day!
I happened to stumble on some straps which are handmade, online. Then it turns out that they're made by our very own @Gecko 5 !

Here it is on my Prima Artist.

Quality is super, super good. This certainly feels like a lifetime strap, and then some. Even though it's not a padded strap, I'm already finding it a good deal more comfortable than the 4" wide padded Levy straps I was using prior to this.

One really cool thing that they (or, he? Maybe seems like maybe just a one man show?) offer is expanding the holes on the ends. They'll basically ream out or drill a 3/8" hole for straplocks to fit through. Honestly, this may sound silly, but that's such a huge quality of life change. It took me zero effort to get the straplock buttons on this strap. I don't know about you, but, every strap I've had previous to this, you sit there and squeeze the washers together as hard as you can while you're trying to get the C-clip/retaining clip just started enough on the grooves so you can then maybe grab your pliers and aw crap it went flying so now you gotta start over again and maybe get it all together on the 2nd try? Yeah, none of that at all.

It's super comfortable - I think something that wasn't working for me with the padded strap was bulk. Those are nice feeling because they have "squish", but, that bulkiness doesn't lay quite right. These lay a lot better and in turn it feels (on the shoulder) like it's doing a better job distributing the weight and through all of that, is at least as comfy, if not more so.

Anyway, I'm gushing cos straps have been a journey for me... I try a couple new ones each year and I nearly always have something to be nit picky about. So far, nada with this. I'm going to give it a couple more days and some time in the studio this coming weekend, but, I'm kind of eyeing a couple more on the website already :D

(this post/mini-review was not at all asked for by Gecko, or any kind of endorsement/discount/anything offered for it. I'm just super happy with the strap and wanted to relay that to my fellow Dingwall players).

Ugh … yeah … I’m in that picture and I don’t like it. Come to think of it, hat might be the main reason I‘m not eager to try out any new straps.
Kudos to you for keeping at it despite this eterbal struggle and seemingly arriving at your personal goldilocks option!

You're right, yes it does.

My bad, that would explain the price discrepancy. But I guess ultimately you're paying that VAT at some point.

4300 EUR becomes 3500 EUR without a 20% VAT, which with the current CAD exchange rate is around 5300 CAD. Definitely a bit higher than the NA pricing, but I wonder if maybe import fees or something else accounts for it? I’m in the US so I’m not super familiar with Europe and import/export. I reached out to the rep I spoke to at Dingwall as well to see if there is updated NA pricing for 2025.

I've heard these called "Jesus clips" because when it's almost there on the third try and then it twangs across the room you shout, "Jay-sus!!"

So yes, it's a very nice touch that the holes accommodate the Dunlop locks that are wanted/needed on many of the Dingwalls. Want!

As far as I know, and I've been trying to follow closely, they haven't said as of yet. Sheldon did mention there's also stipulations around being a buyer in one of his videos. I'd have to dig it up so I may misremember, but I think he said you have to have ordered a Canadian build.

Edit:
Here it is, should be right at 4:03ish

"The sale system is ... we're going to base it off of selling Ferraris, when they do a special run.
The owner will need to already own at least two Dingwalls, at least one custom shop, so that we know it's going to a home of somebody that can appreciate what we do."

It’s good to know that if I win the lotto, I’m pre-qualified to be able to buy one of these.
