Wow that was fast. Excellent work. My new SJ5 doesn't have the series-parallel toggles. I'll probably have to send it to Mo's shop for that. I don't have the tools or confidence to do it myself. I assume without the toggles the pickups are each wired in series?
The toggles change only the pickup's individual coil series/parallel wiring, before they hit the rotary switch. So whatever you wire to the rotary is still the same, between the pickups themselves..
I'm confused. Yes I understand the toggles change the individual pickup wiring (series/parallel), but without the toggles are the individual pickups wired in series or parallel?

I don't actually know on Supers, and I don't want to ASSume it's the same between them and AB/Z. On AB/Z I'm pretty sure the coils are in parallel.

Maybe it depends on the pickup types? My SuperJ has FDV pickups. Addendum: the SJ "Pickup Options" are listed as P-tone, FD3, and SFII. So it looks like the page is not up to date. This whole tarriff situation has me thinking that maybe retailers in the EU can take the custom orders for US customers and then ship them forward at a small markup to US customers bypassing the tarriffs. If there is a flat 25% increase on the final value of the bass, then the extra shipping costs and small markup will surely be cheaper.
If it's not illegal in some way. It sounds like a reasonable business idea, at least for the next 4 years.

I don’t know if this applies to Dingwall, but depending on the brand and type of dealer contract, some dealers are not allowed to ship and sell goods to different territories.
However, I doubt there is a territorial restriction for DW dealers since Fret Nation, John Fox, Bass Buddha, etc all ship worldwide.
This won’t work unless the exporter provides fraudulent information on the country of origin for the product. For the purpose of tariffs, the country of origin is what matters, not the country of export.
That's an important point. I thought it was the country of export which mattered and not the country of origin.
Not sure if this is a barometer or not, but, I put in my final production choices for my custom Z3-5 on 10/4/24 and still waiting (also received the same 2-4 month window at that time). 4 months is tomorrow. Maybe the holidays pushed it back a bit.
I thought about this way too much last night and if the tariffs remain, the only way forward that I see is that Dingwall moves to direct sales, cutting other the dealers. And the dealers might be fine with that as they wouldn't have to front 25% and then have the buyer back out, they're now stuck with an expensive custom order that is going to take awhile to move. Want to say more but it gets into the political territory.
I was informed that my instrument was scheduled to start production on 11/18/24.
Presumably your instrument will be built first and then mine will be finished.
It's a bit sad to hear that the production time has increased.
Direct sales to the US the customer is still paying that tax though in customs.
Absolutely. Dealer overhead is the only thing that I can see that can be cut.
It might sneak through, but country of origin is still Canada and would be subject to tariffs. The Mexican tariffs are on hold for 30 days and likely something similar for Canada, but things are changing too quickly to keep up with it. I think that's by design.
