Dingwall Owners Club

Just got my Combustion delivered at my house by Fedex. I'll see if I can get some pics.

I'm really liking it, specially the playability. However, I think I would like slightly more mids and more tension at the lower strings.

The bridge pickup is pretty middy. Rolling back the neck pickup slightly will bring some of those mids up a bit. If you take it to a qualified tech, you can have them re-wire the neck pickup in series. Or replace the V/V with a V/rotary switch to gain the ability to have both pickups in series.

I already asked Alex at The Gallery to put me a optional wiring in series. It does give me more mids, but I was looking for some higher mids, more around 800Hz and 1kHz. However, the tone is already great as it is.

Do you have suggestions as far as more tension on the Low B and E is concerned?

In the electronics cavity there is a small dip switch on the pre-amp board. Switch #1 is off and switch #2 is on. Try turning #1 on. This will shift the treble frequency center down to 2.1k. It's not exactly what you are looking for but it's worth a try.

Check out the strings section on the Dingwall forum. There are several brands that will fit and give you more tension - although at a cost of clarity.

Okay, I was finally able to take a little time to snap some pics of my new Z3! It just so happens that I also received my new Tom Clement fretless 4-string today, making this officially "New Bass Week!" :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

So, if you don't mind, you'll also see some pics of my new Clement along side this STUNNING Z3:

That burst finish is not as dark in person as it looked in some of the photos. The grain comes through quite nicely:

That zirocote board is just so freakin' hawt!

Notice the matching zirocote knobs.

By way of extreme coincidence, that Clement fretless has a really nice zirocote board, too. These are my first two basses with this fingerboard:

Here are my two new beauties showing their backsides! :D

Sheldon, thank you again for building me this phenomenal instrument! It has earned its place at the top of the pantheon, for sure! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Tom.

Thanks once again!

I posted my ABI and didn't get a number... :( :D

And...you have to give a gentle reminder. ;)

Its hard to remember off the top of my head if you're one of the eighty something people who already have numbers!

I still didn't got to take my Combustion a pic, because I've been spending that time playing.

I tried to record it through the recording out on my roland bas combo, and OMG!! The recorded tone for this bass is unbelievable, specially in series! It's everything I was expecting and more!

Good to hear!

Us Dingwall owners expect the BEST...so when it comes to making a new affordable model, the pressure is definitely on. Great to see that the bass delivers!

Hey thanks for noticing.

My pleasure.

We've made a model comparison page central to all the detail information. This version will be a lot easier to keep updated and current.

This is very smart, and I love the way the Product Specifications Grid is set up.

Not that you are asking for comments/suggestions...but...what do you think about the prospect of adding audio samples for each series of instruments? Maybe something along the lines of what you did with the Combustion series not long ago.
