Dingwall Owners Club

Is this where I sign up for a Dingwall club #???

I got my super P/J 2 days ago, Sept 21, and I'll post the shot Sheldon took.

I don't have a camera to take a personal shot yet.

Enjoy!

MAN i wish i was in walking distance to Sheldon's Bassatorium. mine was quoted as hopefully being done between Oct. 15ish and Nov. 15ish. annnnnd.... i'll probably be in Japan from Nov. 1st for three weeks.

AWESOME thing to come back to, but MAN it'll make it hard to concentrate on having fun on vacation if it gets here while i'm out-country.

no musics unfortunately. my wife is Japanese so i go out there a couple times a year. it's..... kinda awesome having family in Tokyo.

we usually stay in Sasebo (Nagasaki) and the outskirts of Tokyo. i think we might hit Osaka this time.

where you at?

I'll be playing in Ebisu, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Ueno and maybe Yokkaichi.

Probably staying near Minami Gyoutoku or Tsurumi and going into Tokyo most days. Could be fun to play a gig while you're there if you're into doing a duo with acoustic guitar. I'm planning on doing at least one gig like that with one of my friends too.

Ya gotta love a P-bass! Well done. What - did you walk over & pick it up at lunch break?
B.

It was a little after, about 3:00. It was really cool getting to know a couple of the guys in the shop and seeing production. I got to say, I was a little worried about the tone competing with my Mahogany G&L L-1000 in OMG mode (series with bass boost) but the P/J in series is every bit as good and then some, it's more versatile, punchier, longer sustain, easier to play, and IMHO looks unreal.

I've a question for the D.O.C. members.... Is there a certain style of music that you think the Dingwall basses suit?

I play a bunch of different types of music (including rock and country) and need a 5 string with that all round fat round tone which can fit in nearly anywhere.

I really like the Combustion, but have heard that Dingwalls are too hi-fi sounding. Saying that though, I've also heard that the Combustion pickups counter that claim.

Any opinions would be much appreciated!!

IME so far, if you have the tone knob 100% open, you get a hi-fi tone. Lots and lots of clarity. I keep mine at about 80%.

If you roll it completely back, it's really fat and round. You can get lots of tones with these babies :) (Mine is an ABZ 5 btw)

I believe BurningSkies is a Reggae player and has more experience. I bet he can give more info than I can ^^.

Hope this helps,
Iván
