Dingwall Owners Club

Both the long and the standard scale basses can totally crush the MM vibe with FDV's:

Long:

Standard:

That is what I was thinking when the question was asked. There is a reason the FDV is now the new standard.

Christmas came early this year. More pics to come later today. Had to miss some work to take delivery. :)

It'll also give it a chance to warm up after cold, Swedish winter.

Yeah - I was debating between wenge and maple, but I think wenge will look better. Like this, only orange and with wenge.

I like both neck variations. My vote is one of each; or order bass with 2 necks. I absolutely LOVE the Wenge, but there is just something about the all maple neck.

I agree. Thats why I have one of each and then one maple neck with wenge fretboard for good measure.
Well, there you go!
It IS difficult to make a decision and I think sometimes we make a decision based on looks instead of sounds we like. My problem is I like all of them, both looks and sound. As much as I adore the Wenge/Wenge setup, I have a Z build with a maple neck/fretboard incoming.

I like to tell myself I only care about feel and tone but it's a lie. Looks play a huge part in what bass's I ultimately buy and keep.
Yeah, looks are important, I think, to most of us. To me, playability and sound are the ultimate considerations with looks secondary. Although quite frankly, I would LOVE to be financially able to collect Dingwall basses to put on the wall as art. The good news is, to me, there really are no wrong choices as all of the combinations I have seen or tried look great and play/sound great.
