I asked this about a bass in the pipeline and heard that they don’t have ptone pickups for 6 strings.

Well that's just disappointing, maybe they'll be in the works? Regardless, still considering one because I love the idea at the price point and the FD-3 pickups still sound great.

FDV pickups and D-Bird have been around for a while but haven't made it to the specs page yet.

Anyway, Sheldon is so preoccupied with his ever expanding number of options and ever lengthening backlog that he does get behind on the web site presentation. But anyone who knows of Dingwalls know how to stay up with the evolution. And they are great answering questions regarding the options.

I have a personal Magellan. Today I played a NG2 through a Forte; I think you will like it. It was interesting a fellow came down from KC to try a Forte and it turned out he was a many year Dingwall player!

I know it's not quite the same, but I'm a B|AMP/Berg cab user and I don't think I'll ever need or want to change. The rig I have now is the best sounding rig I've had.

To my ears they sound very close. A fellow was trying out his upright and electric to try decide between the amps (Bamp/Forte) and it was difficult to tell the difference; we tested for quite some time. I think it depends on if a person will use the options or not. It would take quite a bit of outboard equipment to replace those options.

Actually, on the topic of backlog, does anyone know if the new Combustion/NG-x capacity increase also included some extra capacity for the Canadian/custom stuff? There was talk of this late last year.

I thought the point of a G string was that it is supposed to come off pretty quickly anyway, right?

I refrained from adding a second sentence. I was going to make a comment about how once the G string is gone, you're not postponing your joy as you said, you should be accelerating its onset. But I thought better of it.

Do you know what kind of string it was though? Dingwall or Payson or Kalium or something else?

I pop-ed an A string once. Yep, we can find ways to play without a particular string. Reminds me of this fellow I met; Justin who plays a 3-string shovel guitar.

We did a handful of shows with Yellowman this fall and the Sagittarius bass olayer had a tuner go on tour and hadn't been able to find a replacement. He was doing fine working around it.
