I mean I keep an eye out in general for whatever people have bought there (everyone eventually posts what and where they bought their Dingwalls) and when people are shopping what they've found in stock at L&M. I don't think that L&M is a happyfantasy land of very special Dingwalls. I think they see a good selection of what most shops see. Like many of us, we keep a lookout for Dingwall rarities.

What do you mean by “straight through”?
With no other pedals?
With no amp?

It has a headphone amp in it so that’ll work for practice.

I use mine as always on, at the end of my board and works great by itself.

I just got one last Thursday! I'm planning on doing a video review of it soon. I'm digging it so far :) Takes a lot of the rumble out of the signal when recording and the controls sound pretty musical. I haven't tried the headphone out yet, though

I can walk into L&M and find a handful of Dingwalls, usually Combustions and ABs, on any day of the week. We get prototypes and B-stock floating through.

That being said, I do not think that every L&M is like that. It is not like we see other brands represented as well, certainly not high-end bass brands. Heck, they only recently started stocking Rics and pretty much refuse to carry any Fender amps, it is combos only. For those that don't know, the shop is spitting distance from our north end L&M.

Yes, as others have said, the OmniCabSim works fantastic for headphone practice. That is exactly how I do all of my practicing during the week since it has to happen late at night when everyone is sleeping. Just a bass and an OmniCabSim is all that is needed for a complete practicing solution. (And 9VDC power supply and instrument cable of course.)

Very pleased with this setup. About to add an Aguilar Filter Twin next to the Chorus and then it's 100% DONE. No more. That's it. Finished. Maxed out. Never again to click on the Pedals section in the Classifieds. Putting this in writing to remind myself next time I get the urge...

BTW everything is on velcro except the OmniCabSim and the FifthGear, because those two need to be able to come off to move to the Guitar pedalboard as needed. The OmniCabSim works awesome on Guitar too.

I can’t believe that early NAMM Super J 4 is just sitting at $2k. That’s a great deal for somebody to get into the Dingwall thing. My first was an early Super PJ 4. I bought it without a test drive, and I felt like I was going way out on a limb.

I follow the used market, as I’m sure you all do. Seems like there are very few used Dingwalls at the moment. Six string are like hens teeth.

Of all the bass gear that has come and gone, my used Dingwalls have been the most solid investments. They really hold their value. It’s fairly risk free to try used Dingwalls.

I have plans for a couple bespoke builds, but my lottery plan hasn’t paid off yet. Meanwhile, I like the luck of the draw used Dingwalls. Every one has been excellent. I never thought I’d buy a black bass. I’ve even said I’d never have a black bass. Low and behold, I’m loving a black Dingwall.

Congrats to the Sheldon and the whole Dingwall crew on thirty years of excellence!

Yeah, I’m a bit baffled too. I’d snap it up but it’s too close to the SJ/P 4 that I have already. And I’m really after a D-Bird.
