Dirk Lance / Alex Katunich

I agree, I think all the slap happy stuff he did earlier on was tired and played out. :o I mean, I can only listen to so much of that before I expect to hear a player step up to the plate with something new, not to mention, more melodic. Though S.C.I.E.N.C.E. had some cool tracks, I wasn't really a fan until Make Yourself.

As someone mentioned earlier, I feel the same way about Flea, and I enjoy listening to both of these guys more now because they have made what I perceive to be musical progressions along the way. I look forward to hearing the next album from Incubus when that comes around.

Ive seen Incubus twice this year and they were cool. they didnt play newskin the second time though. SCIENCE is one of my altime fave CDs, its one that brings together songs that i really like for what theyre aboutand then the bass lines that kick ass under them. when i learned the solo on redifine, i learned it using double hand slaps and when i saw them in march and they played it he did it one handed, and palm muting with the same hand, most of it he didnt even fret anything. Circles , have you ever, and Under My Umbrella are my favorites of the new stuff but my psych teacher says that stuff like warning and Are You In shouldnt even be incubus and that brandon should be slapped for talking them into it. i guess its really just about when you started listening to them. i bought SCIENCE 2 days after it was out...

Funny... everybody keeps saying how Make Yourself is awesome, but I just don't like it. I gave it many chances, but I just like SCIENCE a lot better.

OK, back on subject...

I like Dirk, old and new. Especially new. I have SCIENCE, Make Yourself, and Morning View. I like them all. Seems like a logical progression, I mean, would you still like them if they kept making 'SCIENCE' over and over again?

His tone is sweet ('cause he plays a Warwick :) ) and his grooves are mean and lean. I think he's one of the better new players out there.
