I read about this on Friday... it most definitely sucks. Should be interesting to see who ends up succeeding him in the Incubus bass chair.

Well, Dirk certainly did kick ass. It'd be mighty interesting to see what would happen if he and Mike Turner (guitarist that quit Our Lady Peace after the "spiritual machines" incident -- eg, the sucking) started a band. Heard Turner's stuff on Happiness and Clumsy? Fantastic guitarist.

At this rate, probably Jason Newsted will find himself covering for Dirk, too. Such a shame. He really was the thing I liked most about Incubus. Waste of a once-good band gone south, making repetitive teenybopper songs.

The word I got was he was becoming tired of the watered down sound they had. He was glad that they moved beyond the slappity slappity stuff, but then they started makng "soft, oh Brandon is so cute" type songs. It he got tired of it.

Out of curiousity, have you heard their earlier stuff? Make yourself wasn't bad, but in contrast to their older stuff... it's not all that great. I own it, but rarely listen to it. I refuse to get Morning View. "Oh hey guys, we wrote a bubblegummy pop song and it sold big and made us rich... lets uh... just keep doing that instead of making music that people really care about."

I miss old Incubus...

I would buy Morning View either.. My brother bought it but I never listen to it myself.. And of course i've heard Enjopy Incubus and Fngus amongus.. and I own the Science album.. But for me Make Yrslf is the most balanced, and best composed album.

I dont get all the Incubus bashing...yeah, S.C.I.E.N.C.E was cool, but I liked Make Yourself and there are some cool tunes on MV - Blood on the Ground, 11am, Are You In? are all cool songs. Even Circles is cool...OK so they made a coupla cheesy radio songs, so what? They're still a good band, guitarist has a very broad palette, good drummer...

what does S.C.I.E.N.C.E stand for anyways??
