I liked some of their cheesier songs like "The Warmth" and "I miss you" so I'm not totally biased. I still kinda like Make yourself.

I didn't even really like Incubus all that much. I only when to see them live last year because I heard "I Wish You Were Here" and wondered if he could actually get that tone while playing live...
And if I'm not mistaken, he was doing it with a freaking J-Bass...
He is an awsome player... I think he will join a band that will let him unleash his obvious superiority to most.

I think Mike's an awesome guitar player. I saw their new gig on Jimmy Kimmel, and I ****ing loved it.

Actually it stands for "Songs Created In......" aw hell, I was going to make something up, but the wheels came off! 
This is a rather late post, but he actually still has an interest in the band as a founding memeber. This was the deal he worked out when he split. He was actually the one who was behind the lawsuit with Sony, and he made sure to announce his departure as soon as the deal with Sony was finished. He's a smart guy, and you can bet he didn't loose money on this departure.
Just an update.. Im a huge Dirk fan, he was the reason I picked up bass. Very sorry he left.
Anyways, his replacement was the former guitarist of The Roots. They have begun touring, and the guy has re-written a lot of Dirk's lines (herecy).
A few friends went to see them (I refused), they said it was the new bass player and brandon show. Mike, Jose, and Chris were almost completely lost from the shirtless duo doing stage antics.
What a shame
As for Dirk, nothing has turned up yet, hope he joins a good band, and soon.

I heard/read that Dirk left the band out of his own.
He wanted to leave already before Morning view, but he agreed to finish it and play a couple of shows but then leave.
Im also sorry that he left, becuase he definatly is a Kick-ass player and he's becomiing one of my influences. I dont like the morning view that much, but SCIENCE and Make yourself are definatly two rocking albums that should become classic in a while.

im glad to see im not the only one whostarted playing bass partlly cuase of durk
and also i dont know y alot of players said they truned to crap i like all of there stuff early and late(sure they may have sold out, but you can all say "i would never" but you never know till your there)
I saw them at lollapalooza a month ago. He had rewritten a lot of his lines. Their new stuff was kind of a disappointment.
Also where I was standing it seemed his tone kinda sucked but I think they venue was have sound system problems (Some people around me were convinced Queens of the Stone Age blew out the PA speakers

Not like i'm adding anything new here, but Dirk...i mean Ale...I mean Lanc...I mean the REAL bassist of incubus was the sole reason i got into bass playing. After hearing his stuff('certain shade of green' and 'calgon' specifically) it made me branch out into a world of new styles. If it werent for him, not only would i not be playing bass, i wouldn't be listening to 75% of the music i listen to now.
Such a freaking shame...replacing a bassist with a gu*****st....and changing his lines!? BLASPHEMY!!!

Dirk Lance was a really talented bassist. I agree that their older stuff was much better and that Dirk probably got bored or wasn't satisfied with Incubus' direction. At least he isn't lying to himself and staying in the band.

but this is horrible news to me, chances are i will now puke at the sound of new incubus tracks... but maybe not, ill just wait and see

I havent heard anything about him playing in any bands or anything, i think hes just taking a break with his family.

I have not, as far as I know, he is taking a break. I cant wait for him to get back into music, with him being my idol and all

i was just wondering whatever happened to Dirk Lance. whats he doing now that hes out of incubus. i would like to hear more from him, hes one of my favorite bassists. does anyone know?
