I am from chinesebassis, the most influential association for greater china area. To buy a Mahogany bass from Joelc73, (I believe the original post was deleted, I only have conversation with seller in my message box.) I sold my beloved bass to pay the $9.5k fodera bass (exactly as his post asking price). After I paid him and payment get cleared, I said take your time to prepare and ship, he said no problem. A couple of days later, he said he will not proceed the transaction. I explained to him I already sold my bass to pay for this one and entreat him to keep his promise, let the deal go through, but he refused to do so. I have been living in US for a while and my friends and family are US citizens. (This account is actually my friend's, he helped me paid Joelc73.) I thought it is a fair and credited country that all people there keep promising, but this time I was so disappointed. I knew talkbass is the largest market place to trade bass worldwide, I hope you guys can suggest / help me in how to contact fodera to order a similar bass as following specs:

Fodera Imperial Garrison 5
Mahogany with ash body
Brazilian Rosewood top
maple neck
BrazilianRosewoodfingerboard
BrazilianRosewoodpickup covers
Brazilian Rosewood ramp
33” scale
17.5mm
Dual coil Fodera/Duncan pickups
Pope pre-amp

I will tell my story to my friends who play bass, and thanks my friend for helping me. To who can give me any suggestions or help, god bless you guys and I hope all you guys lucky and happy!

That stinks
If he refunds your money on full then there may be no remedy got you
If he does refund you in full then you have legal recourse
i would report this to the mods in any event
I hope this works out for you

Yes, he did refund. But I sold my bass, our band have problem with the current situations. I told him, but he insist on refund and cancel :(

You may want to contact a lawyer. There was an agreement made. He accepted your payment and failed to provide the merchandise- you may have a case of you can prove some form of financial loss due to detrimental reliance

Sounds like sellers remorse.... He is in wrong as he should have had his mind made up before he accepted deal and the funds

That is the kind of seller we should all avoid

So can you clarify whether you negotiated the sale using your own TalkBass account, or someone else's account? And you paid through a US bank account--someone else's bank account, not yours--but then asked to have the instrument shipped to China, is that correct?

Do you have to be a supporting member to buy a bass?

No, you don't have to be a supporting member, but there's no indication whether the OP was a member at all when he was trying to negotiate this deal. Rather, he seems to indicate that he was using someone else's account.

Also, a longstanding supporting member with a positive history and feedback as a dealer (like the seller) is not likely to just be someone with "sellers remorse".

It is a fair and credited country.. but it is poipulated with people.. the same kinds of people that live in China.. Yes it sucks you sold your bass.. but it is what it is.

Then the thing to do is suck it up and get over it. Surely you can find another bass that will meet your needs with the kind of money you now have at your disposal.

You got your money back. Chalk it up to experience and move on. No use in crying over something you can't control. Go find yourself another Bass and be happy.

No sir. I asked to ship to a WA address, my friends house. And he paid as well.

I also expect an excellent trade, but bad thing DID happen :(
Here is the words:
"I absolutely understand your frustration and can assure you I have never backed out of a deal before. Unfortunately, there are some other circumstances at play this time."

Yes, I did have some second thoughts on this particular transaction. I'd rather not go into the details publicly.

Many of you know me and know that I've sold quite a few extremely high-end basses here on Talkbass.

For the record, I quickly notified the buyer and immediately credited his account. Again, my apologies for any inconvenience.

To the OP, I won't plan on returning to the thread but I do kindly request that you delete it -- as it doesn't seem like the most productive channel for this.

He's only relating (honestly) his experience with you. You've got no business asking him to delete the thread because you think it makes you look bad. You made your own decision—live with it.

He's got to live with the fact that he sold his bass for no reason, because of you.
