Nice! Like the faux wood finish on that one. My Lava Swirl is an early one with exposed poles and "A" bridge. These BH5's are something special.

Except for the pearloid white pickguard I long ago took off, I've got a twin! I bought it new in 1996 and experimented with tons of electronics in it (for fun, the stock pups were great too!). It currently has SD/Antiquity 2s in it, and just got plekked as well. Great bass!

The original Hamer Cruise Bass was an interesting and capable piece, a riff on Gibson themes with a mahogany body, maple neck, and ebony board. A very early 'factory' PJ bass from the original Hamer company, before it all went south and Hamer became just another disembodied brand owned by someone else.

Laguna Ocean basses... this one's a 4, but they did a 5-string fretless version too... 3-band EQ with two O-rings around each knob, SO cool! Some 10 years ago GC bought too many and were blowing them out for under $350. Really wanted to but let it get away.

I was just thinking about discontinued basses this morning.

What are some discontinued basses that you really like, might want to have, maybe wish they would start producing again?

Naturally there a lot of older ones... but a few newer ones that I either have or want to have, are also discontinued.

My little list:

Newer, but discontinued:
*Ibanez BTB33 (5 string 33" scale, tuned EADGC). Have, like. Discontinued a year ago, I think. Harder and harder to find.
* Music Man Big Al SSS 4 or 5 string (don't have, want, don't have enough cash for one at present, somewhat rare on used market).

Older, discontinued:
*Kubicki XFactor
*Steinberger L2

The Jerry Jones Longhorn bass, which was a high end clone of the Danelectro of the same name.

The street price of these basses from new was 1200$, and I used to own one, which unfortunately I was stupid enough to sell at some point, really regret that.

It was an amazing bass to play on, felt so good, and with the two lipstick tube pickups in series, which was stock option on the 4 way pickup rotate switch it sounded amazing as well.

As the Danelectro it was short scale bass, 29,75" I think to be exact, semo hollow bass, with an about 15" fretboard radius (slightly bellow, but don't recall the exact number), and 24 super easy accessible frets all the way up, and I believe 16 or 17 mm string spacing (don't recall which one it is, probably 17).
