You mean the Aural Enhancer? It only really scoops the mids when its set past 12/1 o'clock, until then it will boost volume, but going head to head with 2 loud guitarists and their stacks its still not enough at times...

Disillusioned with New Ampeg B2RE...

You mean the Aural Enhancer? It only really scoops the mids when its set past 12/1 o'clock, until then it will boost volume, but going head to head with 2 loud guitarists and their stacks its still not enough at times...
No, the mids. "Flat" on SWR is actually very scooped mids which gives the impression of not much power. Increase the mids to a more normal frequency curve and you get back a lot of apparent grunt.
IMHO the B2RE is only good as a practice amp, and barely as that.
By far the worse Ampeg product they have made to this point.
Almost impossible to get a decent sound from it and at a reasonable volume.
Not sure adding any pedals or preamps can really help it, really is a bad amp, sorry.
Weird how all the other Ampeg amps are fine, and sound great... not sure how the B2RE sneaked into thier line-up
