Distortion!

Bongo, your politeness with this astounds me :D

But yeah, he's right - with the hundreds of overdrive, distortion, and fuzz pedals out there that work well (and don't work well) on bass, there's no perfect pedal. It's all about personal taste and the sound in mind.

Of course, if you had an idea of the sounds you were actually trying to get, we might be able to give you a decent starting point.

There are a lot of threads where most of us have commented about all types of distortion, and people can find a good idea about what they're looking for, or something close to it(I surely have). Just take the time to do a search and READ, the disotrtion mega-thread is really one of the greatest sources of this kind of info on the internet. Just a thought, have fun.

hey how about an opinion!
Great Job!

Mr. DMcB - You have asked a question that has been asked a thousand times and has two thousand answers. "Best" is completely variable depending on your needs and preferences. What is right for the music I play may be completely useless for the music you play.

Ask yourself, "What's the best car?" Well, you may love Ferraris (or whatever), but for someone who needs to carry 3 kids, or haul a bass rig around, a Ferrari is totally useless. The same thing applies to the topic at hand.

You're getting some irritated responses because it appears that you have not made any effort to find answers for yourself - especially when they've been made readily available - but you are demanding answers from the TB members. To steal a term from another forum I frequent..don't be a "spoonie" (someone looking to be spoon-fed info). Reading through the FAQ's will get you a long way down the road to your answer.

Help us help you. Tell us what kind of sound you're looking for, what kind of music you play, and anything else that can narrow down the field.

(Resists angry and rude comeback.... must...not...get...banned...)

Look man. Straight up. You asked a question so asked that every time we hear it we cringe. I understand, your new here, you couldn't know that we hear that twice daily, but our good friend bongomania was actually polite to you, and instructed you how you can discover some of this on your own. Teach a man to fish.

Even then, good friend MysticBoo made it clear that, yeah, we will help noobs when they don't want to help themselves, and you snapped back rudely to that.

So I'm going to resist calling you names that I would really like to and insist that you can take back that statement, and give us some ideas on what sound you want to hear (bands, songs, clips, etc, etc.). Or, if you just want to suck your thumb, whine and cry about how we can't just do something for you, and you can't be polite and thankful for the help we offer, I request that you think seriously about continuing to post here. Thank you.
