DIY Effect Makers (club?)

Cool! But that's actually bigger than the standard old 1590b. And it seems like it would be tough to build in since you have to put everything in, ship-in-a-bottle style. What's your experience been so far with them?

True, they're probably about the same volume as a 1590b, but seem smaller. The black finish is nice and it engraves well.

It's definitely a tight fit. Basically you can't have controls in the same space as circuit board, and the pots have to have very short shafts.

2 x 2N3904 for Q1 and Q2?

These are Radio Shack trannies, not exactly exotic.

I am very surprised that they sell this puppy for $300+.

Even for a boutique, hand soldered, individually tested pedal, it does not quite make sense.

It's just a (tuned) silicon Fuzz Face with an added Big Muff tone stack & a gate control. Nothing spectacular about it...

Well, it's not a Big Muff tone stack. Big Muff pans between HPF and LPF. There's no HPF in the WM tone stack. It pans between an LPF RC filter and just a series resistance to keep levels the same across the dial.

Some kind of tube-based overdrive pedal.

edit: Can I join your Bassist who drive Volvo -club:) I've got a V50.

The Volvo club thing is a joke.

I used to advertise my belonging to different clubs and then thought it was pretty darn ridiculous, and ended up making up a stupid club.

Volvo drivers in the US are for the most part middle aged white liberals (as I am). It's a niche market :D

I had to take a break. Staring at those resistor stripe bands is making me insane. I got two more resistors then, the caps. I even think I'm doing it right!

Oh man I am color blind, I cannot see green unless it's like lime green so trust me, unless you are color blind, you should not complain.

I have all my resistors in a plastic container with compartments with the values written. I use an ohm meter to be sure.

And I have readers with huge magnification when I solder, by the way. You can pick them for cheap at Walgreen's, make sure you don't use them casually, you could damage your sight.

No complaints, just a musing. I'm having fun. I finished all the resistors just a minute ago.
