I would never recommend using your actual last name for a bass company. While it might be a success now, later down the road if/when you sell and restart again with another company, you'll have someone else who owns your name, and you'll have a stigma if that name gets dragged down.

Tobias? Fender for many years? Spector had to fight a while to get his name back.

Something like LABB or whatever would be better IMHO.

When I bought my first Reverends; they were mail order only/direct from Reverend only.

Glad to see Dan getting fully back out there, even though he was really never gone. I love Lakland basses and I'm in the crowd that very much appreciates the Skyline gig.

I was in for "Lakin" for the name. But I'll leave that to others. I'm not good with names.


I'm in with others for possible interest in a 5-string version. Not to start a derail, but like the 35" scale of the 55-02 but not the JO5. That's just me.

Same for me. The 55-02 (and the 55-94 for that matter) feel to me like you don't know it's a 35" scale instrument, but when anything below E kicks in, that's a whole different story. Massive and articulate.

Yeah, I suppose so. That's a good example. Probably have to do a fair amount of marketing/advertising to get things rolling.

The way Jauqo describes them, it sounds like a heck of a lot of bass for the money. I'd be very interested if I weren't already set for basses.

I'd doubt it, personally.
Plek is not better than a good human, and in some cases worse.
Where Plek has ad advantage over human finish work, is in large numbers.

I don't know that this is going to be a large operation; at least at first.

Honestly I prefer laklands with hand fret work to the plek. If it was better the US line would use it as well.
