DNA Owners Group

It was fun playing on a bigger outdoor stage this weekend...usually we're in some small bar where we have to watch levels. Got to crank up the DNA rig and it sounded fantastic! I love the bottom end that the 2X10 cab puts out. Puts a smile on my face every time.

I currently play in 2 bands. My main gig, Natchez Tracers, is a rock band in the vein of Grateful Dead/Allman Bros mixed with Zeppelin/Sabbath with a dash of funk now and again. The band that has 2 guitars, drums and sometimes keys and/or fiddle. My second gig is a 70s/80s rock and pop cover band with 3 guitars, keys and drums. As you can imagine, both gigs can get pretty damn loud. My rig is currently a GK MB500 Fusion > DNA 2x10 8ohm. The places we play typically have limited FOH and I may get put thru the mains, but usually don't have a designated monitor for myself. I'm either sharing with the drummer or guitarist, or I'm up a creek.

The last few gigs, I've felt 'hidden' in the stage mix, even with FoH support couldn't hear myself very well. I've been pushing my amp 3/4+ volume and still not satisfied. I contacted Brian at the Low End and he hooked me up with a second DNA 2x10 yesterday!

I get to take it out for a spin at my gig on Fri, but I can already feel the amp GAS creepin' up. My GK MB500 Fusion has served me well for a few years, but it just comes off waaaay to 'bright' to my ears and I just can't seem to dial it back.

I know the modern amp market is wide open, but what do you folks use with your DNA cabs? I've thought about an Eden WT800 or an Ampeg SVP-Pro/power amp setup. I don't mind 'bigger' amps, but would prefer to not have to lug around an old lead sled or 80lb tube head. I'm confident that I can get what I want in either a micro amp or one of the other two 'larger' amp setups mentioned previously.

What say you DNA users?

Seeing that 2X10 stack makes me want to get me a 2nd one!! As far as amps, I've been enjoying my DNA 1350 a ton (as seen in earlier pics). I'm sure any of the amps you listed would work though.

If it's between the Eden WT-800 (great amp!) and the Ampeg, I'd definitely go with the Eden. Much clearer sound in my opinion. All the Ampeg amps I've ever played through all sound muddy at gig volumes.

I use a WT500/800 with my DNS-410 cab and it just kills it! I would suggest going with the new DNA-800 or the DNA-1350. The DNA-800 is at a really good price but the 1350 has tons of power along with a number of additional features the DNA-800 doesn't have. Both have great clear sound!

My WT500 has the same preamp as the WT800 but without the bi-amp circuitry (which I'd never use anyhow). It was upgraded to 800 watts by David and I bought it from him right after he started DNA. I can tell you that 800-watts into my DNS-410 is HUGE! I never come close to putting that much power into it. The Eden WT800 would be killer with that, but if you want the same amount of power at only 4-lbs of weight instead of the 26-lbs for the WT800, go for the DNA-800.

I have used my 1350 for almost a year now. On top of my DNS-410, it is a monster. I am seriously thinking I should have a 800 as well for those, shall we say, small gigs. Something more than my 250w TC Electronics combo, but not quite as much as the 1350. Something with a small foot print. So, I guess if I pick up the 800, I may just have to have a 1-12 as well
