I have the 1350. Runs much different than the WT stuff. Once I got it figured out, this amp is a stomper.. Love it. Has what it takes to play in a 6 piece super loud band with 2 full trap drummers.. I don't have to turn it up super high to fill most every place easily. Plus it has the ability to be subtle and gentle. Makes for great dynamics during a tune.

Hey all!

I bought a 112 micro and paired it with my Old Eden WT800. I only run half the amp so I don't push too much power into it but I love it.I am thinking of either getting the DNA 800 or the 1350. I have the money for both and need some advice as to which to spring for.

Currently, I have an Eden 410 XLT and for pedals use a Darkglass B7K and a Super Symmetry. I would like to keep the 410XLT and WT800 but really don't want to lug the weight around so I want to grab t DNS 112's (not the micro) since I love the micro I have. I play a Warwick Corvette 5 string from the late 90's, a 2004 G&L Fretless 5 string and fretted 5 string, a 64 Gretsch hollowbody, and a 78 Fender Jazz. Hell I might even plug my upright into this thing.

My question is should I spring for the extra watts since I can afford them and may someday in the future get a DNS 410 or save some cash, grab the 800 that would be just enough watts for the 2 DNS 112's? No guarantee on the extra 410 but I have the green light on the 2 DNS 112's and either the 1350 or the 800.

I read through the whole thread. Good to see my buddy from Jamestown Revival is on here
Definitely go for the DNS410 if your on the fence about it. It'll kill the D410xlt. And is lighter.
I'm of the opinion to get as many watts as is affordable. Ymmv.

I have the DNA 800 and I found a NA NS 4-10 locally for sale here at a good price BUT it is 8 ohms. Lot I have read was to use a 4ohm cab with this head (BTW I understand all the power fx of 8 vs 4 Ohm) I do not expect to add a second cab, so would the DNA 800 and 8ohm cab work for medium sized club work? (Mostly prog rock not mic'd/DI) Mainly Fender passive and Ric basses used.

Since almost nobody really runs these heads to the max, I think you'll find you have more than enough power with an 8 ohm cab. Yeah, it will be about half of what the amp will put into a 4 ohm cab but it's still 400 watts. That's more than enough for a medium size club. Plus, you can always add another 8 ohm cab to it to give you the extra power and more speaker coverage.

A lot of "how loud" depends upon the sensitivity of your cabs too. I used to gig through a 410+115 stack. The 410 in that stack had a sensitivity of 92 db at 1-watt at 1-meter distance (2.83V@1W/1M). That means 1 watt would produce 92 db at 1 meter distance. That is NOT an efficient cab. The formula goes that you need to double the power to get a 3db increase in sound. Although 3db is technically twice as loud, the human ear hears a 10db change as twice as loud. Here's a quick chart showing you the progression presuming everything is working perfectly (example is from an acoustic B410 cab that will handle 400-watts - newer ones handle 600-watts rms):

1 watt 92 db
2 watts 95 db
4 watts 98 db
8 watts 101 db
16 watts 103 db
32 watts 106 db
64 watts 109 db
128 watts 112 db
256 watts 115 db max on this cab is about 116db with power handling of 400-watts rms.
512 watts 118 db
1024 watts 121 db

120 db is a loud rock concert and pain begins at 125 db.

Now, by comparison my DNS410 cab has a sensitivity rating of 106db. So 106 db is where "barely on" starts whereas the other cab requires 32-watts to get there. Here's a chart showing how that progresses (again presuming everything is perfect) with the DNS410:

1 watt 106 db
2 watts 109 db
4 watts 112 db
8 watts 115 db
16 watts 118 db
32 watts 121 db already louder than my other cab's maximum
64 watts 124 db
128 watts 127 db
256 watts 130 db
512 watts 133 db
1024 watts 136 db
1400 watts 137 db -137db is the max rms power this cab will safely handle. Ohterwise 2048 watts would get it to 139.

So the DNS410 will be as loud using 1-watt as my acoustic B410 is using 32 watts. Using 32-watts with my DNS410 will produce 121db and would require 1024 watts on the other cab IF the other cab could handle it. So sensitivity has a LOT to do with how loud your watts convert to. I gigged for years using that acoustic B410 with a GK-115BLX underneath it. Adding the 115 got me about 2db more and I was supplying a maximum of 240-watts to each cab (each was in its own channel). I typically ran the master up around 10 to 11 o'clock depending upon the size of the room. So I wasn't pushing near the limit of power to those cabs. This even worked fine for outdoors too. So all told, I was sending a total of less than 400-watts to those cabs.

Now using that same amp with my DNS410, I run it bridged with 800-watts available. I rarely run the master above 9:30 because it's just too loud. The sensitivity of the cab has a lot to do with how loud you can get but really, 800-watts even with a low sensitivity cab is plenty. It will be MORE than loud enough for a medium size club.

My tone was on point as always last night!!

Pulled the trigger on the used 1350 over the weekend. Be here on Wednesday. I can't wait. I'll run it through the Eden until I can afford 2 DNS 112 cabs. I don't think I can use the head with the 112 micro unless I really watch the volume. The cab is 8 ohms and it'll cut the power rating to 700 watts butt the micro is only rated at 450.

Do I get a number now?

Hello DNA friends. I have a issue I am hoping someone may have a solve for. I just picked up a brand new bass. A G.Gould GGi5. The pickups are screamers!! 20.33Ohms each. I tweaked my 1350 for the smoking hot pickups, but the amp sounds like it's overdriven?? Almost distorted. I have adjusted the gain down to only come on more than about 1/2 the time. The volume is turned down to about 11 O'clock or so. EQ is flat. Compressor is on, but doesn't seem to do much in the way of helping with this (which I guess it shouldn't anyway). So, any suggestions? Thoughts?

Hey DNA forum. Last night I ran my four month old DNA 800 through a DNA 1-12n and about an hour in, I lost 80% of the power. I have to check warranty but it's never happened before and I had to turn the gain an master to ten to get a very low level of stage volume. Fortunately the DI worked so I hooked that to the pa so I could be heard. Ampbused naybe a dozen times total.

Any thoughts?

Thanks here it is. 3 months old:

Purchased a DNA 800 from you via NJ Guitar and Bass center late August.. used it about a dozen times and at a gig on Saturday night, midway through a show, I lost 80% of the volume. Checked all cables which worked, and the rca's worked at volume, but I had to turn the master and gain to nearly full up to get a low level out for the front or rear input (I use the rear.) I used the DNA 1-12N. Quickly hooked up the DI to the pa which worked. Previous settings were Gain about 1 o'clock and master at 1 o'clock.

No more than an occasional green flash on the gain, and an occasional yellow on the master.

(Had I fully read the manual, I would have rebooted the head.) In any case, the head works normally this am.

I did have an iPad running Roland PK5 bass pedals into the RCA's and a passive Fender into the main input, but never playing at the same time.

Nervous about using this out again... Defective or protect mode????

Otherwise, its awesome.

Looking forward to your response.
