Can confirm. Played one of these throughout most of the 80's. Biggest POS ever made. I wouldn't waste a dime on it today, but I sure wish I still had mine so I could sell it to one of you for $1000

Do all CBS Fullerton’s have micro tilt?

I’m not sure what Fender P Bass I bought new in 1983, it was about $300.00 brand new from Guitar Center,mail order, natural with maple neck and probably the worst Fender Bass I’ve owned, saddles would move downward causing it to go flat during playing, the edge of the fingerboard had a sharp edge all the way up and down and the pups were wobbly presumably because of lack of enough foam underneath.The only thing I remember was that Fender closed their doors not long afterwards and then came back with their Japanese models and the $1000.00 Jazz and Precision models whatever the correct name for those are.I traded my P bass for an Ibanez Blazer bass which was a much better bass overall although I hated the slab body.

i bought my 83' for $400 in 1985..it was mint/new w/HSC ..never tried it till i got home..loved it and has served me well for since. The microtilt is nice for that low action on the higher frets..Great woodsy/growl p tone...originally this had the cheap 1ply white PG and pup covers

The Fender 1983 catalog that I own stated black, ivory, sienna sunburst and brown sunburst as the only available colours for Standard Precision and Jazz basses, so your natural P-bass was probably one of those made with late 70's mixed components (and mixed quality, as far as I could remember).
Interesting, it also had a white pick guard and I think with the black layer in between but not sure on that.
The serial number at the headstock could not faked that easily.
Never saw that on an E3.

Every time I see a thread like this I feel weird about having absolutely thrashed the closet classic 83 P-Bass - which does have micro-tilt! - I bought in 2004 for $400 as this was not a desirable era for Fenders at the time.
Fullerton reissue manuals and 1983 Fender Europe catalogue.
Precision bass, and regular Telecaster guitar did not have Micro-Tilt or bullet truss rod through '82. Nor did the lower end things like Mustang, Dou Sonic etc. The Jazz bass, Strat, Telecaster bass, Telecaster Custom (1 humbucker in neck with regular Tele bridge and bridge PUP), and Tele Deluxe (two 'buckers with a hardtail Strat bridge) had the Micro-Tilt.
None of the Vintage Series instruments would have Micro-Tilt. By '83 they had some confusing model names and there may have been variations of the Micro-Tilt on the Elite, Standard as opposed to the "standard"), etc. But a Fullerton Vintage Series would not have it at all.

I’m debating on starting a new thread with a different title “is my vintage p bass authentic”
Would that be an offense to the forum? I’m thinking more people would chime in because it wouldn’t be 100% representative of the CBS micro tilt since we answered that question with 1982 and prior being a heel truss Rod year.

So officially we have considered this to be a 1982.5 Due to the 82 features, but an 83 serial number. It weighs 8.8lbs and has the craziest amount of sustain. I can tap notes that just ring for days on it.

Whether it's '82 or '83 or whatever else, that bass looks to be in excellent shape. May it serve you well.

Oh, I don't doubt there were better ones, since they couldn't have possibly gotten any worse than the one I owned
Natural with a 3-ply guard would not be a Precision Standard then. White pickup covers appear to be a transitional feature.
Catalogs showing the Precision Elite series would show a Precision Standard, not a "Precision Bass" and Precision Bass Special.
