This really doesn't make me interested in helping you.I presume this is because most fretless players out there haven't progressed past where they were 30-40 years ago.

alright but it being a 6 string actually makes it look sick though, it's both anachronistic & wideI'm not a boomer, but I love my boomer burst.
Do fretless basses with actually fun, vibrant finishes, or natural finishes over really characterful wood, exist? Especially do they exist under $1k?
Problem is, almost all of the fretless basses I can find are 'sunburst' this and 'brown burst' that.
I'm sure I have said it before, but that green G&L is the color of kryptonite. So sexy.
this has actually been a great help as I've always wanted a Starr Labs Ztar but they're egregiously costly. If I slap a microcontroller in this though...They do. And way under your stated budget, too.
That gold hardware is super sweet. Do they make these or were these defretted & refinished? Presumably way beyond what I can afford though.rays
They do. And way under your stated budget, too. You just have to make it really clear to the search engine what you are looking for or else it gets confused (as the internet is a Boomer itself, after all...)

Thank youI'm sure I have said it before, but that green G&L is the color of kryptonite. So sexy.
I can soitenly sympathize with you on that!I can't go outside, the trees are still getting it on and it makes me sneeze too much.
It sold me when I saw itThose G&L bowling ball finishes are ridiculously cool. If I ever find one in person I'll probably be helpless and have to own it.
