Do I Own the Lightest Music Man Stingray???

So, I'm not trying to brag about a light Stingray, but curiosity has gotten the better of me. I have owned well over a dozen Music Man basses over the years (Stingray Special, Stingrays 4 & 5, US Sterlings, US Sub, Sabre, Caprice, Classic Sterling, EBMM Sterlings, Classic Stingray, Short Scale Stingrays) and most of them have been in the 8.5 to about 11 pounds range.

The lightest I've previously had was a short scale Stingray at about 7.6 pounds. My current Stingray is a retailer limited edition Stingray Special from a year or so ago (trans amethyst with flamed roasted maple neck) and it weighs in at 7.13 pounds! Besides a Fender Dusty Hill Bass (which weighed almost exactly the same), this is the lightest bass I've ever owned--and certainly the lightest full-scale Music Man by far.

Anyone else have a super light full-scale Music Man bass?

7.13 pounds, plays like a dream, looks killer, sounds like a great Stingray should sound:

When I saw that color on the retailer website (I think it was Music Zoo), I knew I had to pony up and get it. Purple is my favorite color and I'd never seen a production purple Stingray (until now with the new sparkle purple ones). It was almost a shock when I picked it out of the case and... it almost floated away. :D

Your Musicman Stingray is absolutely beautiful, but I wouldn't own a 7.13 lb. bass. I once a/b'd a beautiful sparkle gold color Musicman Stingray that
felt like it weighed about 7 lbs. That particular bass sounded dull and had zero heft to the tone.

Imo, that was due to the lightweight. Anyway, I am happy for you since it checks all the boxes that you like! :):thumbsup::thumbsup:

I was ready to pull the trigger on one of a special run (5 basses) of Sterling. EBMM customer service refused to devulge the exact weight. They would only say that they only weigh the first few and those averaged 9 lbs. I wonder how many they weighed, two?

Did you guys got to find out the weight before purchase?

My first EBMM, a shortie is 6.5lbs and no neck dive! I love it. So, I was all set to get me another EBMM but I am not going to be a repeat customer if they simply ignore my questions.
