Do people really quit talkbass?

It's funny because my first thought was that the OP made a pretty good show of taking a hiatus a few months back. Of course @Joe Nerve let everyone know the reason why, and of course he also slipped in a few times while on that hiatus to post and, who knows, to lurk. Many of the user names I recognize but fewer of the avatars. I don't know too many who have changed their names (I have, but it was more of a haircut than a rebranding.) So if someone knows where all the floweres have gone, long time passing...

LOL... saw I was mentioned in a post, then went to read the OP. Totally forgot I posted it :). Yeah, I really quit for a little while. I love this place too much though to ever REALLY quit.

I did REALLY quit another forum though. One of the mods disliked me as much as I disliked him. I couldn't handle being policed on every one of my posts, and getting deleted whenever he disagreed with me.

I generally don't notice when most people leave, temporarily or permanently. The exception being when I notice someone's been banned, then all I can think about is their absence until they return. :sour:

Or if they make a big deal of it beforehand. Or if they rage quit.

Ok, I kinda notice when some people leave.

Quitters:
- have other things to do
- don't enjoy the site anymore
- are tired of "what's the best X for metal" threads
- are tired of how easily people here feel offended or brand others a troll gratuitiously
- are tired of being ignored
- don't feel like they want/ can contribute anymore
- are coerced into becoming supporting, paying members after a number of years (this is purely speculation)
- retire temporarily from internet forum-ing
- retire permanently from internet forum-ing
- decided to live a frugal, simplistic life overnight
- have been ridiculed by family/ friends/ peers for their online acivities to the point of breaking
- were committed and have no access to a computer
- are no longer interested in the bass, music or Geddy Lee
- and many more

Also, quitters:
- quit just because... no rational explanation exists as to why
- quit due to the combination of some or all of the above reasons

Matticus told us he was leaving and did. It wasn't a rage quit he just decided to go. Maki just faded away, he still posts sometimes but very seldom.

I should have quit back in December. I'd have never come around to buying a u-bass, which quickly escalated to re-populating my living room with instruments.
It was my gateway instrument, and my gateway to thinking about buying it was from browsing TB every bloody day for months, even though I owned not one instrument or amplifier :bored:
