Do Stickers Make a Bass Trashy?

Haven't owned a bass since 1966 that I didn't put some type of sticker on. My amps usually have at least one sticker on them too. So I guess I'm trashy.

I like the sticker on the back of my bass. I wouldn't be putting bumper stickers on it, or brand names or such, that's what cases are for. But a big old sun? Yeah, that I'm okay with.

i have stickers on my car, too. actually, i don't like my stuff to get lost in the croud. imagine leaving your bass with 4 others. if it's a p-bass, it's gone.

I'd use automotive decals...

I mean, if they're meant on cars to be removed without damaging/discoloring paint, I can't see them not doing the same to basses.

I've been thinking about putting a sticker on this new bronco bass. I put some cheap automotive carbon fiber wrap on my pickguard, if that counts:

It pretty much has to be applied like a big sticker.

I wouldn't even call that a sticker. I just looks like a new pickguard... nice work

I think it only looks tacky if it is a band name. Such as all of the band names on Flea's bass. However some bassists stickers are almost iconic. The Denmark sticker on Klaus Flourides bass is one example.

Though we also see the main problem with putting stickers on your bass here and in the flea picture.
Stickers wear off and look lame after a short while.

Whatever makes you happy is cool in my book. I keep by basses sticker-free, but IMO the case is fair game, especially if it's Tolex.

I put a few stickers on a custom/homemade build I did with SX parts. "MiNK" is an acronymn for my daughters' names (Mia, Nicole and Kate), so I went with a critter theme that I hope wasn't over-the-top or doesn't delve into punk territory:

I don't really know. I think although the idea of a sticker is to make your bass stand out, its only cool for a while. Once its been four years and your band broke up and now you're in a different, more mature group you could regret you stickers. ESPECIALLY if you were a pot head and now your band is strait edge haha

BUT i wouldnt do this on other basses cause i really think it makes them look trashy.
