Hrmm, just my luck that the two corvette $$'s at my gc are pretty much brand new - I'd take a bad scratch on the back to save a few hundred. Still, even for $900 it's a nice deal.

Looking at the locations you guys are from, it seems where you live helps determine the price. For instance, here in el Paso there is no competition for GC. Most of the bargains I read about on this site are $150 to $200 cheaper than I can get them here. I just snagged a PRS SE Semihollow for $601 on the 'net, the GC here wants $801 on sale.
I checked the ohio ones, and no such luck really. I mean don't get me wrong, a 2499 list bass new for 999 is a deal! But, the resale sucks so bad, you're getting a new bass for the price of used.
If that's enough savings to trip your trigger, then by all means jump on it.

On the bright side, they were closing out dean markley blue steels....I got the last 4 sets for 17 a piece.
I've seen multiple things mentioned here and in other threads - some suggesting it's just because of the change in distributors, some suggesting it's just clearing out stock for the 2009 models, and some mentioning that Guitar Center is going to be carrying some other brand in place of Warwick.
They have so few of them now, it may well be they're dropping warwick. Many players treat em like a nice dress, buy em to record and then return them due to price. I have a friend that is a dealer, so no problem here.

They were not happy, and it actually involved two stores because my main store didn't have one and they found it at another nearby store.
The first store started the pitch with "you know, we'll beat any price and I can get you whatever you're looking for". I whipped out the receipt and said "match this". He checked it out, got manager's approval, handed it back very depressed and said "I don't want to know where you got that".
They sent me to the second store to pick it up. He warned me that they had a new one, and a used one, and the arrangement was for the new one. When I got there they tried to switch it to the used one, which I called them on, and it got ugly for awhile. They eventually got thinks fixed and practically kicked me out of the store. The store managers were yelling at each other on the phone because the second manager claimed he was losing "hundreds of dollars" on the deal.
The first store was very straight forward and stuck to their word. I actually feel like I owe them more business to make up for the smoking deal they gave me. The second store will never get a penny from me. I never would have imagined picking up a bass I had already paid for could be so confrontational and miserable. He can be as pissed as he wants at the other manager, but all I did was ask for a price and they agreed to it. The way he treated me was unacceptable.
The bass is awesome!
