I'd be more worried about the DI really, aren't most (newer) amps protected against shorting the speaker out? I think mine is anyway.

Ha, I read now that 10cc runs an SVT. Tube amps don't mind dead shorts. Hooking up per Jimmy's recommendation ensures the foh gets tube tone, albeit brighter than the cab. Best of all, there is no chance to run an instrument cable out of the SVT in a blonde moment.
