I did a sticker on the front side of the upper bridge-end bout of a black Gibson Thunderbird for a while. It was not a solid sticker, but one of the type that is just the outline of the object. I didn’t leave it on long, and when I took it off, I could still see a faint line of the shape of where the sticker was on the paint. It eventually faded to almost invisible, but I can still barely see it in sunlight.
I just bought an Ibanez Mikro in black that I’m going to decorate or paint. It was a $140 pawn shop bass or I would have chosen a brighter color….

Some folks take things too seriously. This bass stuff is supposed to be fun.
I do but nothing too fancy. Just some bicycle handlebar streamers hanging from the headstock.
Not typically. Maybe a nice strap or a pickguard change. But after a recent incident I’m tempted to put one of these on my bass.
There was a legendary guitar player in Ohio on the 80’s I shared bills with pretty oft who cut out pics of “marital tackle” from playgirl mags and put them all over his strat. From a distance looked like paisley…..then….oh!

All of the above, but not usually stickers except occasionally. But I’ve refinished basses many times, and painted pickguards.
Saw a paua shell PG on Facebook that I would put on something in a heartbeat. But when I went looking, the closest I found was "abalone."
Looked way too fake for my purpose. Probably a good thing. Might be hard to keep the chisels away after starting down that road.

Put this on my DJ5 last year when I played for the Choctaw Labor day festival. It's become a permanent addition I think. Original thought was a tip of the hat to how warriors would do a handprint on their ponies for carrying them into battle and returning them unharmed. I kinda dug the whole "bass is my war pony" thing. It's also the symbol for MMIW , an organization dedicated to missing/murdered indigenous women. I'm Choctaw myself, so both strike a chord with my heart.
I've done the inlay stickers on a couple of Spectors. They look very realistic and hold up surprisingly well. I've had some of them on for years with no damage/lifting/peeling.
