My black Explorer-style Hamer Import Standard is called STORMBRINGER after my abundant love for the Elric series of books. In it, Stormbringer is this vampiric sword that Elric uses to give himself energy (he's very weak otherwise)- so just as he depends on the sword, the sword also depends on him to suck souls.

I uh....don't suck souls...but I depend on my bass, and it depends on me!

Following that tradition, if I ever do make a crimson 8-string Explorer custom....I shall call it MOURNBLADE after Stormbringer's twin in the Elric books. It'll be sweet. :bassist:

MY girlfriend just got me a Warwick Thumb Bolt On 4 String for absolutely NO reason whatsoever (i am guessing bribery for a ring)
Anyways, I named the bass after her and had threw the little note that came with it inside the battery/electronics back plate. Cheesy I know but she ate it up...

Dont hate the player hate the game hehe.

So is she a keeper?

My Warwick says yes.

i have a 1969 dan armstrong that i call DAN
i have a 1970 reissue da that i call DANA
i have a 1972 da london fretless that i call DAN JR

i knew i was crazy the first time i ever took the 1969 da in for a repair. about 2 hrs after i left the store i started having anxiety attacks because that bass was not in my possesion. my repair guy who's name is john avera understood and said he would have it back to me the next day. it's not that i dont trust john because 1. he is the best and 2. i've known him for 15 years. it was just that my "right arm" so to speak was missing. i truley love that bass and cant handle when it's not there.

I've owned about 50 basses in the 45 years that I've been playing and the only bass that I attached a name to was a P/J bass that Wayne Charvel made for me in 1976 when he was still building basses in Redlands,CA just after his move from San Dimas. The bass was made out of a very old beautiful piece of what was referred to at the time as "Violin" grade Maple. What a beatiful sounding bass but Wow was it heavy, anyway I called that bass "Molly". I have a pretty good memory but I just can't seem to remember why or who the inspiration might have been. I sold it to a studio player in the early-eighties.

New someone who called their bass, BABE. When I finally get my first I will call it, Butterfly, it will be a blue bass, prolly a five string, hey I know what to ask for christmas, hmm, i wonder, a cheaper bass, and a small amp, I wonder how much, gotta go to the music shop!

I call my wee lil' squire The Doctor, because I have a problem with stress, and I am only calm when I'm playing (sounds lame, but even my friends say that lol ).. and my Fender is Jezebel. That's the name of the Temptress in the book if revelations ...

...and that's my older Roscoe SKB-3006, my main gigging instrument for the past few years. She's Dr. Phat ; first instrument I ever felt moved to give a moniker to.

That's what she sounds like, in any of her various voices...

When I first got my current DB, I didn't like it much, and it was all introverted and passive, but it opened up a lot. I named it for someone I had the hots for, now when I come in, I tell it "come here you sassy thing! Let me put my hands all over ya!" and the bass seems to dig it.

Used to have a bass called Peach.
