Anyways, I'm looking at buying a Stratocaster, and the big question I have is:
2 point trem vs. 6 point?
I'd recommend a fixed-bridge guitar for your first one, and if you're dead set on getting a Strat, try to find one with a fixed-bridge.
If you get one with a six-point bridge the number 1 piece of advice (from the general public) will be to block it, meaning to disable the vibrato function.
If you really think you'll use the vibrato bridge, 2-point is the way to go, but be warned they're a pain if you're doing any alternate tunings.
In a Strat-like guitar, I'd recommend G&L's S-500, which walks all over a Fender, IME:
S-500 RMC
