Someone beat me to it on page 7, but I'll repeat it anyway because it's true for me as well.
Basement? You mean bassment.
I'm still living at home with my mom and sister while I attend university but neither of them ever used the basement for anything other than for storage. I have a decent setup in one of the corners that includes my computer (with ol' faithful GuitarPro 5), a 210 guitar amp and my sad little bass amp. When they're not home, you can bet that the basement has some serious rattling going on.

Yeah. I call it "The Swamp." For my wife's 50th birthday, I let her organize it. It took me a couple months to find everything and restore the room to its former glory.
Haha...so funny. I have this little section of closet in our bedroom I use for all kinds of crap...components, strings, picks old bass parts. I came home last night and there was a black plastic tub/tote in the middle of the room. "Don't worry, it all in there" she said. Now I know where everything I can never find is...under everything else I can never find, in the tote!
My Man cave is a cottage in the back yard that used to be a mother in laws house, then a rental unit.
Now it is gutted and under remodeling, and MINE.
NO TRESPASSING.
Sadly I am in the middle of a divorce, and gonna have to sell, then it's
back to the drawing board...
That's funny, Munji. This is what I envisioned: "Happy 50th, babe. This is a special birthday, so I want you to have special memories. You get to clean the mancave! Happy birthday, babe!"
I have a mancave full of stuff: tv, stereo, couch, 2 rigs, 2 cabs, 1 combo amp, basses in floor stands, more basses and guitars covering 2 of the walls, with the other 2 walls wearing a variety of Steeler items.
I live in a 1 BR cottage, nestled in a thick stand of 30'+ bamboo trees. The main room is ~18'x15' with a vaulted ceiling 9'-11'. That's my music room. Have a nice digital piano, recording capabilities, lots of windows, skylights, a couch and a TV.

Combination office and music room, soon to be stuffed to overflowing with my partner's guitars and rig as well. That said, there's always a bass in the main room because plugged in or not, just having one close to hand in the evenings is a good thing.
After buying a house, I now have a bass room/man cave! It's in the basement, which shall hence be known as the "bass-ment". I'm making a sign and everything!
My bride is very sweet about The Music Room.
We chose this house, 15 years ago, because of the big, closed in, garage...a place to put a pool table. My bride grew up with a pool table, and we were from such a small town that we worried about our teenagers, a girl and a boy...and who they would hang out with. Our thinking was 'If we have a nice pool table, their friends might be more willing to hang out here.'...and it worked! I met some of my son's friends with whom I am still close to this day...including a fine bassist!
The 'pool room' is where I set up my 1976 Bose 501s...they have always sounded great out in the wide open spaces!
As our children aged out, we began to realize we had a bit more money hanging about. Happily, part of that money went to the purchase of bass guitars! Another small chunk went toward the purchase of at least 4 different amps before I stepped up to the SWR LA15 that has been my 'amp at home' for the last 5 or 6 years.
And so...I have the 501s, the LA15 and my bass guitars all in one place.
When they closed in the garage...before we ever lived here...they closed in the 'mud room'. That 10X10 ft. space is where I keep all of our recorded music...perhaps 6000 albums and half that number of CDs.
And the kicker is................................................that space is as far away from our bedroom as you can be, and still be indoors.
Sometimes...not often enough...when my bride heads off to bed, I play my guitars along with my favorite recordings.
Life Is Good.
