I've got what I've concluded is the best "cheap" guitar on the market, a Yamaha FS720S. Just about everyone who's come over with their own acoustic guitar has ended up playing mine instead (one had a Collings and was not going to play anything else)!

I'm also firmly in the parlor guitar size camp, as they're way easier to play than a dreadnought and put out a more balanced sound for group playing, recording, etc, and may have made a couple of converts over the last couple of years.

I admit it's a pretty sad existence for a guitar in my house.
Better in the closet in a case than sitting on a stand gathering dust and risking getting knocked over. If you ever thought seeing it might motivate you to pick it up, maybe, but shy of that keep it cased.
Imagine the cool factor if one of your (soon to be teen) daughters takes an interest in guitar and dad hands her a pristine Martin to get started.

There is always a bass on a stand in my house and i stop by and noodle, or pick it up while waiting on wifey to get ready, stuff like that. It's not plugged in but that's fine, all my J basses are plenty loud enough to play unpulgged in an otherwise quiet room.

They do love it when I strum.... horribly. :D
