Do You Keep a Guitar in Your House for Visitors?

I have several guitars and basses that guests can use.....as long as they're left handed.

Well, I'm left handed, but I play right handed bass. Alternatively, I have a right handed drummer friend (Gasp!) who plays left handed bass.

Same here. I often play them, too. Visitors are welcome to grab one, though. Or a bass.

Do I keep a guitar in my house? Yes, many of them. For visitors? No. I have few friends (reading some of my posts will be an indicator of why that is so) and not many of them play guitar.

I have a Takamine acoustic in our guest room. It gets tuned about twice a year when visitors come through.

I keep guitars, basses, drums, keyboards, amps, and PA system in case some musicians come over. Last time any showed up was over a year ago. I'm still holding out hope of finding some musicians who want to play. Most bands I play with don't rehearse and the few that occasionally do want the convenience of doing it at their own houses even though I have a better set up.

No but there is a Layaway Plan and two other possible options, for the more impatient friendlies — Cash on the Barrelhead and Down at the Crossroads — depending on circumstances and availability.

We have drums, piano and guitar and some percussion open to those who just want to play. I am surprised by some of the unfriendly comments - but maybe the sarcasm was not as obvious Bass players usually are chill in my experience.

I have a Takamine Hirade TH5, classical acoustic electric guitar, but I don't keep it for visitors...in fact, I keep visitors away from that guitar I keep it cause I still play guitar, classical.

No, I keep guitars in my house for me to play. Also a drum set, an upright piano, a trumpet, and a harmonica. But, if anyone comes over who does play, we jam.

I have a single strat that gets quite a bit of use as the "house guitar." Guys seem to really like it.

No, but we can dig up an extra guitar or two at our rehearsal site if the need arises.

George Harrison oddity: He used to travel with a ukulele and eventually would carry a second just in case you didn't have your's.

At the moment, that's all I have is guitars. A Marin D16, 2 Strats and a Gretsch G5420. I sold my beautiful Stingray about 8 years ago...and I miss it. But WOW was it heavy, my back couldn't take it anymore.

But in the next two months, I'll be picking up a new bass...just can't decide what to get. I HATE shopping for new instruments because I want them all, but can't afford that.

I'll probably end up getting a P-Bass, because every single time I've had a bass, it's been something other than a P-Bass...yet I was always trying to get that sound/vibe. So seriously, why am I fighting it and should just get a fricken P-Bass.
