Do You Like A White Bass? - Poll

My first Fender was an Oly White ‘71 Fender P; barely visible in this 1972 photo.

After that bass, I tended more towards natural finishes or Black, which I prefer for a Jazz Bass.

Then, about two years ago, while trying to sort out a 5 string to my liking, I bought a trans white / ash body from eBay as part of a build, which turned out quite to my liking.

I originally thought I’d have it shot either black or vintage Shoreline Gold. But, the trans white has kind of grown on me. I kind of feel like this bass found me, vs the other way around. So, it’s likely to stay this way. Pretty much my numero uno 5 string, because Fender. And it plays /sounds great.

The aged cream color, especially with the gold anodized pickguard, is a nice look IMO. The pristine bleached white just isn't for me, not a big fan of it...

Just curious. I have had an affinity to keep atleast one white bass in the arsenal over the years, and it is often the one I end up playing most. For whatever reason, I tend to put white pearloid on most of my instruments, it's a sickness I guess.

My current favorite is the Stingray 5 in the pic, feel free to show yours.

Some probably find them bland, just curious where people stand on this one.

My other white basses aside from the CS '64 Jazz relics from above; CV Jazz from when I was in Afghanistan. That pic was taken at the "Duck and Cover Pub" (US Embassy, Kabul). And my No 1. workhorse (MIJ - mostly - PJ modded mongel). Ignore that brown five stringer - it was a decent bass, just didn't last for long...maybe if it was white and tort!

I don’t love white myself, but I want my next bass to be white or TV white in honor of my dad whose favorite musician was Brian Wilson.

The finish on an instrument's body is not much of a factor for me with regard to purchasing. That being said, I love the way my Olympic White US Lakland 4460 looks. Especially now that it's starting to fade and keeps getting more and more bumps and bruises.

I have always loved white basses and guitars, but never owned one. My ex-wife had a really nice white 70s P-Bass. Current basses are 3-tone sunburst (feh), and old-Ibanez silver/gold hybrid (pretty cool). Guitars are sunburst again, candy-apple red, and black. My second fave guitar color is Lake Placid blue. I don't have any of those either.

[EDIT] I just remembered that I actually did own a white early 70s Yamaha guitar. It looked like this and I never should have gotten rid of it.

My tech agrees that my white bass is a marvelous instrument.

It has become my belief that all basses should be either black, white, or black and white.

Those are the only colors that go well with anything you wear.

The only reason I own basses in other colors is because they either didn't make them in black or white or I didn't know any better in my younger bass playing days.

I dont like anything white. Cars, houses, basses.

Just looks generic and cheap.

It definitely gets played, but I probably baby it more than the others... don't tell them, though. They'll get jealous.
