Do You Name Your Basses???

Gibenbackerbass, GREAT collection, love the 'Caligula' bass. Question- the 'Galba' bass- is the T-bird pup added on? I haven't seen a Newport that has that pickup- must sound awesome!

Galba is a 1966 all original Epiphone Embassy Deluxe, which was Epiphone's answer to Gibson's Non-Reverse dual-pickup Thunderbird. It has the same exact hardware, pickups, and body materials/design as the Non-Revrse T-Bird (except for the control knobs - check 'em out, they're quite the sight). There was only one model; dual pickups, whereas Gibson offered a single and dual pickup version of the T-Bird.

The sound is identical to the T-Bird but it's balance isn't all that terrific.

The Newport was Epiphone's answer to Gibson's EB0 and EB3.

I could never really decide on a name, but this thread got me thinking.

I may call my Warwick Corvette$$ "Buck" (as in double buck), or "rodger" (after buck rodger^^) or "hum" would also be good as in humbucker and cos it's like humming a tume or something ... or name it after my girl cos of the sexy shape

I named my samick greg bennett Tiger. My ibanez is killer and when i get my epi tbird off layaway im going to name it the beasr. Its the first time ivd ever named my basses.

I think the story behind BB King's Lucy is the only valid reason I've ever heard for naming a guitar. Not saying you absolutely need a valid reason, but where do you stop. Do you guys also name your cars, phones and tax advisers?

Custom (CGW) 6er = Kyle's mom ('cos she's a big fat....)
J&D luthiers 5 = Lex
Aria pro II CSB380 = Pixie (after the 80's band, cos same model that dude played)
Shecter 5 = Cherry (cos she's red)

2008. EBMM Sterling 5 HS (Black Cherry Burst) = "Cherry Pie"

2011. EBMM reflex 5 HH (White) = "White Cadillac"

I named my car, Fifi (numberplate FF at the start) but not phone or tax adviser... Difference there is the car and my basses are feminine, my phone and my tax guy are dudes (and my tax guy had a name already, Carl)

The P-bass = Peepeehead Wilson

Actually, and not meaning to be picky, but BB King's guitar was Lucille; it was Albert King's guitar that was called Lucy.

May be on the wrong forum, but (as BB King) I named my two barrel over-under shotgun "Lucille" and it sleep between me and my girlfriend in the bed... hehehe

It makes all my friend laught when I say this, kind of running gag... I have a little song that came in with the joke but it's in french and don't ask me to sing please I'm jsut a bassist and have no talent for singing... lol

But I haven't named my basses yet...
