Do you name your pets weird names?

My daughter’s cat was adopted when he was a kitten and they said he had a name and she kept it. He is named Mica. Who names a cat after a mineral?
He’s a tuxedo cat and I thought they should have named him Geddy.

My dog has an awesome name, Apollo.

We once had a dog named Brutus, he was small with short legs but very solid and strong.
If I parked a car in the back garden he would eat all the mudflaps.
We had a cat we called Trixi, when we got her she was up to all sorts of tricks and would attack anything at all, including our 2 German shepherds.
Later she used to climb up my back and lie down across my shoulders and try to sleep, no matter what I was doing at the time.
Those claws were a bit painful but I got used to it, I would give up before that cat would.

90 years ago we had a cat named Roxanne after the Police song.

Silas has a normal name.

My daughter had a lhasa apso she named Spike of Monte Cristo. He won the ugliest dog in town contest. Spike's lower jaw extended slightly forward so his canine teeth stuck out. One was crooked and fell a little sideways, he had long blondish hair, short legs, beady eyes, and looked like a caterpillar when he walked. He was a sweetheart.

At least once a week I walk by her and sing " kiss kiss Kitty meow meow meow kiss kiss kitty meow meow meow meow" to the tune of Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever
I have been singing that song to my cat for years, but with sightly different lyrics.
Joyce is the cat's name so my song goes, "Joyce the kitty, meow, meow, meow. Joyce the kitty, meow, meow, meeeee ow."

I always liked the idea of my pets indicating to me what their names should be. I had a ferret named Swiffer because he would make his way under furniture and effectively do the dusting. One of our cats is named “Chamonix” because as a kitten he was always sitting atop tall objects. One day he was perched atop a triangle-shaped scratching post and the name presented itself (chat-monix - “chat” being French for “cat” and Chamonix being a town in the French alps). Our other cat is named “Mr. P.C.” because as a kitten he would always come over to me when I’d be practising and would look curiously at my bass.

When I was a kid, we built a decent size fishpond in the yard. Once it was done we got a koi for the pond. We four kids could not settle on a name so it was decided everyone (mom and pop included) would write a name on slips of paper, place them in a hat, and one drawn. The winner was my dad’s submission. Our fish was named Abdo.

I personally don't but I have a friend who just got a couple of cats which are brother and sister.

The male he has named "Dude" while the female is now known as "Spud".

I find these to be rather normal when compared to other friend's pets, such as "Caldo". ( also a cat )

So if you have pets with strange names , or know people who name their pest odd names, share them here!

For a few years as a kid, I had a dog named Tank that my stepdad just kinda brought home one day. I never really figured out what happened to him, but the 2 things I do remember of him are that no one else in the house (besides said stepdad) really liked him, and his name was the closest to a truly "weird" one any of my pets have ever had

I had a cat once named Dinka’s and a dog named Peabody as he resembled the Peabody of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. But have been pet free since 1994.

We recently sprouted a mango seed into a house plant we named Bob, if that qualifies.
