Do you name your pets weird names?

I personally don't but I have a friend who just got a couple of cats which are brother and sister.


The male he has named "Dude" while the female is now known as "Spud".


I find these to be rather normal when compared to other friend's pets, such as "Caldo". ( also a cat )




So if you have pets with strange names , or know people who name their pest odd names, share them here!

I've had a Norwegian Forest Cat named Baron Le Gray. He was about as noble a grey kitty as I've known. Always seemed to be putting on airs as a kitten so after a week or two the name just popped into my head.

Years ago my sister had two cats, both pure white except for a couple of spots on their noggins. One Dot and Two Dot were their names.

My best friend had a gigantic furball of a cat. His name was Chewbacca.

Best for last. My Aunt Louise had a cat named Icabod (icky body... it was fugly!) Fuzzybutt Underfoot.

Excellent! Mudita certainly knows how to make an entrance, and block your left hand technique.......

I don't think my cats' names are odd, but other people do. The cats I've had in adulthood were Blanche Devereaux (Golden Girls), Geraldine (as a kid, I had a cat named Jerry who looked and behaved a lot like her), Orville Gibson, Hartley Peavey, and Murray Goldberg.

My guitar tech found Orville wandering near the college campus where he was starving to death. He tried on several occasions to find a home for the cat, but people kept bringing him back after 2 hours, claiming that he didn't get along with their other pets. I finally agreed to take him, and he settled in quite well. I thought he should be named after a luthier, but also figured it would be weird to give him my tech's name so I settled on Orville. Of course people think I named him after Redenbacher.

I decided to keep with the instrument builder theme when I acquired Hartley from the SPCA. Many people assume his name is Harley, which is very common around here.

Murray's first name came with him. His former owner's sister told me he was named after her grandfather. When I asked if he was Jewish, she seemed a bit offended and replied no way. I liked the name, which to me sounded like something you'd hear attached to a kosher deli owner in New York, so I added Goldberg after a coworker who behaves like a Jewish stereotype you'd seen on TV. She's very entertaining.

Our cat is named PC, for "Pussy Cat"
Our other cat that passed away a few years ago was named Γατί (pronounced Gah-tEE) which is a cutesy way of saying kitty, in Greek.
Our dog is named Lalu, which I bastardized form the Greek σκυλάκι (pronounced skee-LAH-kee) which is doggie. SkeeLAHkee became
skeeLAHloo, which became Lalu.

Goofy, I know. :)
