I never refrigerate PB. I want it to be smooth and creamy, so I can break off a piece of Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate and scoop it in my PB like Hershey's showed us in their old commercials. Remember the slogan?, "Two great tastes that taste great together" well lemmy tell ya, it's way better than the Reece's Peanut Butter Cup they where peddling.

Not quite the same thing but Skippy also just came out with this.

Refrigerate Peanut Butter? Not to be snarky, but... what color is the sky on your planet? I've been eating the stuff for over 60 years, now (and I'm one of those weirdos who eat it with a spoon, right out of the jar), and my peanut butter has NEVER been refrigerated; not ever, never. I just spent the last minute scrutinizing my current jar of Skippy creamy p-butter (almost gone, too - will be, before today is over), and nowhere does it say "Refrigerate after opening", or any nonsense like that. My jar of Costco store brand "organic, pure & natural" peanut butter, though? The kind I constantly have to stick a blender into, to get everything mixed back together? Yeah, that junk does say "refrigerate"... Personally, I say throw that kind of P-Butter the Hell out, and get more Skippy (or Peter Pan- that's good, too)...

The sky is green with purple polka dots but that's neither here nor there. :p

I'm not in possession of a jar of regular Skippy at the moment but that's what I was buying until recently and if my memory serves me correct, and sometimes it doesn't, those say "refrigerate after opening".

Can someone with a jar of regular Skippy check the label?

The smooth stuff is good out of the fridge, but chunky just destroys bread when it's cold. If I can remember to, I spread it room-temp then refrigerate that half of the sandwich until the next day.

I like it because the natural stuff gets a bit runny at room temp.

REGULAR SKIPPY SAYS NOTHING ABOUT REFRIGERATION ON THE LABEL.

Never heard of it.

As a kid i was the geek who read every word on anything with words on it and i don't recall ever seeing any warning about refrigeration on PB.

I got so much of it as a kid i rarely eat it as an adult. My older sister makes her own peanut and almond butter and i'll snag a bit of that when I visit her but unless she takes it out in anticipation of a visit from me, she doesn't store hers in the fridge either.

Peanut butter pro tip:

If you buy the stuff that needs significant stirring before first use, skim some of the oil off right after you open the jar. Save and refrigerate the oil. Stir peanut butter well. When you get to the bottom third of the jar, when the contents are getting dry and crumbly, add some of oil back in.
