Do you sniff your tube amp?

My name is Rodl2005 & I'm a tube sniffer. Started back in the 60's with home stereos, then when I got my 1st bass amp in '75 I sniffed every time I played me bass. From there I went full on into a raging habit & would turn it on just for that rush. Even if I wasn't jamming.
Even thru the sterile early 90's, everyone frowned upon me for sticking with my old tube babes, but they didn't know my secret.
I was sprung a few times, but managed to divert attention by saying a fuse had blown or some other lie.
I did clean up my act for a few short years in '04 but TB's showed me a whole new level of appreciation & now I don't wanna give up. :thumbup:

No. But that damned "Ozone Generator" deal blew my mind....I wasn't aware that there WAS such a thing, but it actually works. My friend spent a boat load of cash for his new house, but the previous owners were heavy smokers.

This company comes in, cranks up the machine and bingo Bango BOOM.....

Two hours with machine, and the smoke smell was completely gone. I've been back countless times and no smoke smell.

More bars should buy these damned things!!

SolarMan hasn't mentioned that his amp has blacked out 6V6's which have a different aroma than clear glass units.

We had this tweed Deluxe that was a really nice rock amp, ran hot, and smelled real good.

i never really leaned in for a sniff, but my Ampro definately has a scent that conjures up memory triggers. i don't know what the original memory is, but it's definately from young childhood. maybe my granparents' console stereo or something. i can't say it reminds me of thunderstorms, so i'm thinking it's less ozone and more old vinyl and adhesive feeling the heat. either way, it is a pleasant smell.

Used to sniff them when I was a kid in some old TV's we had at the time. The little lights inside intrigued me and I do distinctly remember the smell. Don't own and wouldn't own any tube amps today but that's just my personal preference for another thread someday.
