Do you sniff your tube amp?

I don't have a tube amp any more but when i did... yeah I took an occasional sniff. One of the guitar players in my band has one and I still like the smell. After taking a whiff , I went into the room where my scuba gear is and sniffed my wet suits (teckdiver500 knows what I'm talking about). Then I went out to my garage and enjoyed the distinct aroma of my hot rod . Now I have this irrasistable urge to go out in my back yard and pee on a tree.

Cool. I do it too. My Traynor really doesn't have much of a smell, but the LB30 smells just like hot tubes! Probably a bit odd. Reminds me of my childhood. When I was a kid, I had my ham-operator dad's Hallicrafter SX-28 WWII-vintage SW receiver in my bedroom for years. 14 tubes and at 75 pounds, almost as heavy as a SVT. You never forget that smell.

Yea, I like the smell. It definitely triggers a mystery memory for me as well. My '67 Sunn 200s is quite nice, my '71 Traynor YBA-3A is a little "skunkier", I think the fan kicks it out a little stronger. I think it's a warm tolex/glue/wood kind of thing. Coming home from a long gig or session with the Sunn in the back of the Allroad smells like victory and plunder.
