Do you sniff your tube amp?

A sniff test is part of buying a vintage amp. If it smells of smoke it could be a deal breaker unless I intend to recover it.

Magic smoke is something else. You don't want to suck it all out of the amp. :p

My wife just saw this and laughed. She says that I'm taking "huge whiffs" - not just little sniffs. (she has been wondering what the heck I'm doing when I turn it off!)

Yep. Ozone.

I went to a friends house one day and they had been using an "ozone generator" to kill the previous owners "smoke" smell in the house. It was one of these BIG machines that puts out like 14,000 units per hour.

Once the company shut it off - and waiting about an hour - we walked in and VIOLA!! Smoke smell was gone! BUT, it smelled just like a thunder shower had just finished....

GREAT SMELL!!!

Every time I crank up my Heritage - I'm reminded of that house!!
