Do you take a bass on holiday?

If I can, I will. If I don't play for a week or more, all of my callouses disappear. Building them back is horrible, especially when I'm not used to playing with a pick.
Do I take a bass on holidays? Yes, a U-bass. It is small, quiet and perfect for taking an opportunity to practice or learn new songs.
If there’s room in the car and I have to work on stuff, I’ll bring the u bass. It’s brilliant.
Every 3 weeks or so we go up to Mom's house in upstate NY for a week. It's pretty rural and other than for some occasional fishing (catch and release unless the bass is begging to be breakfast) things are very slow.
I always take my XL-2 along with my Vox box, cans and a wire to connect to my tablet for youtube. There was a time I'd leave it home, but after a couple days I get too antsy with no outlet.

Galax! I’ve only ever heard good things.Back when I used to go on holiday/vacation... at Fiddlers Convention the music was the focus of the vacation, so... YES!

I winter in FL, where I keep a laminated upright and next seasons 'project bass'. ... It's a Fender Basswood body, in red, with Lindy Fralin's over wounds but no controls of yet. ... I have a JV Jazz Bass neck, that I bought original, and have played for a solid 'twenty years', till the frets were gone. ... I always maintained the frets with leveling and crowning until it became a fretted fretless. ... So, this winters project is to defret the neck, fill in the slots and epoxy my old JV J-neck into my new JV neck. ...
I take a bass when driving for longer holidays, a week or longer. I’ll bring my ABG but since I got the Hartke HD25 I’ll bring an electric, cord, amp, and headphones. There’s always some down time and it’s fun to play. Plus if there are any decent music stores in the area I can visit them and try out some amps or pedals.
I don’t take one on a plane, but if on a longer vacation I’ll probably thread in a visit to a music store just to play, even for 15 or 20 minutes. I enjoy heading to the mall in a foreign land and seeing how folks in other parts of the world participate in consumer culture. Perhaps unsurprisingly it is pretty much the same with a few salient differences.
In Paris the kids were asking me about Flea, I told them about Hadrien Feraud, a bona fide French bad ass bassist. Not sure it made an impression. In Chile the clerks had their studied indifference down pat.

Once or twice a year I drive out of state (about 450 miles away) on vacation and I always take a bass with me, along with a Tech21 BDDI, and a Vox Bass amplug plus a portable music player and hi-fi headphones.
I use the Vox to play on my own with headphones but I actively look for impromptu jams with other musicians where I can plug into a board with the BDDI.
It's a good conversation starter playing a guitar of bass at the park or beach or other public place.
Been playing 10 - 14 hours per week for all of 35 years and I get a bit squirrely if I go more than 2 or 3 days without playing. I've had actual withdrawal symptoms after not having a bass for a week.
I use the Vox to play on my own with headphones but I actively look for impromptu jams with other musicians where I can plug into a board with the BDDI.

Nope, but if on vacation visiting my parents I know there will be plenty of instruments there already.
The closest I've come to bringing an instrument was when I took drumsticks and a practice pad on a 2 week business trip.

No... But, I do take an iRig and make synth tracks on my iPad. Works especially well on flights to Europe.
