when i picked up two pairs of pants from a tailor, i wanted to leave a $5 tip to show my appreciation beyond the "price". well..i said here's $40, keep the $5 change and thanks a lot for getting these done for me so quick! he said, "why? i have the change". i felt dumb because i looked up tipping tailors before i went there, and typically, people said they "dont tip 'em" (especially not if they are the owner of the shop)... and i had written the consensus off as people being cheap. :atoz:

Dunno, but there was a fellow that started getting blinding headaches. Miserable head-splitting pain. He went to doctor after doctor, no help...until he finally found a doctor who said "Well, I have searched all the medical reference books, and the only reference I can find is that somehow your scrotum has been impacting the base of your spinal column." Well, what can be done, inquired the headache fellow. "The only thing the book says is castration", replied the doctor. Gosh, terrible, but the man agrees, his headaches are that bad.

Well the operation goes well, and a day or so later the headaches are gone! The man--er, eunuch--leaves the hospital and he feels so good, he decides to walk home. On his way, he notices a tailor's shop that he has never paid attention to before. What the heck, he decides, let's give myself a treat since I feel like a new man! He goes in and the proprietor is an old tailor. "I'll take a new sports coat" says our fellow. The tailor looks at him and says "42 regular, here you go!" without even bothering to measure him. Our fellow is a little surprised, but he tries it on, and it fits perfectly! "Well how about a hat?" he asks. The tailor looks at him and says "7 and a half" and grabs one, again without using the tape measure, and again the hat fits perfectly. Our fellow is even more amazed. "How about a shirt" and the tailor once more selects a shirt which fits perfectly, again without using his tape measure. "Amazing" says our fellow, "how can you figure out my size without measuring me?"

The tailor replies, "Well, I've been a tailor for 40 years, and my father was a tailor for 50 years, and his father was a tailor for 50 years, and his father too, and they've passed down all their experience to me." Our fellow says "Wow, that's incredible. Hey one more thing, I need some underwear, some briefs please". The tailor looks at him and says "You'll need a size 36 pair of briefs". "Ah-ha", our fellow exclaims, "got you there! I wear size 30 briefs!"

"Oh no" says the tailor. "You don't want to wear size 30 briefs, way too small. They'll pull your scrotum against your spinal column and give you the most terrible headaches!"

I approve of this joke.

Anyway, do I look like a guy who has a tailor?

Tailor... that's a good one! You do realize you're on a site for musicians, right? ;)
Some musicians (even bassers!) tip tailors:
