Does a VH/Roth reunion without Michael piss you off?

I echo the sentiments of most here. This is a reunion of egomaniacs, not a Van Halen reunion, and they won't get a dime of my money. JB's comments on the subject said it all.

I am old enough to have seen the original VH line-up several times in concert back in the late 70's and early 80's. VH hasn't been the same since, and with the exclusion of Anthony ... well, it just ain't Van Halen.

I had no idea they'd cut Mike out of the album covers on the website. How unbelievably asinine. I think I'll send some flame mail to Eddie and company.

:spit:

I do think its sad for van halen not to be touring WITH all original members, but I think its pretty cool to have your own son play in your band, OR have your own dad ask you to play in HIS band.

Just hope Wolfie? doesn't get into too much "junk".

Here is his myspace page with some cool old photos, some videos and stuff...

As a bass player, yes it makes me mad, it's not the first time a bass player is expendable (Zepplin & Queen reunions)

The sad truth is non musician fans probably don't really care, unless the bass player is the lead singer or an icon like JE. Yeah they might feel sorry a bit, but that's about it. It just means more money in their pockets, loosing another opinion as well.

sorry to derail the thread, and not to start a flame war here..

but John Deacon was DEFINITELY wanted, but he chose not to be part of Queen+Paul Rodgers (and i LOVE Queen, and i passed on the tour for just that reason..as i'll pass on the "VH".. tour.. cuz Sammy was cool.. MA is like Keith Moon in the Who)...

What Page/Plant did to JPJ was unconciounable (sp?)... again i had nothing to do with them after that...

Plant says Jones was pissed at him for when he answered reporters after them asking him where Jones was- he joked "parking the car".

Jones states he was really crushed when they did not ask him to join them on their semi comeback tour several years ago. He said they don't want to have anything to do with him anymore. At least that what I read somewhere. He really wanted to play with them again.

I paid good money to see Van Halen in 2004 with Sammy Hagar. Luckily I saw a show near the beginning of the tour. It was a very good show. Sammy was incredible. Michael was great. Eddie hadn't melted down yet, he was fair. Alex was Alex - I can't stand his drumming, but it works in the context.

I won't pay to see this concert.

what did they do?? I'm not up on my Led Zep news...or any news other than bonzo died...

i'm not COMPLETELY sure this next story is true, as i was not there and didn't hear it...

but Page is credited with saying...

"we could hire 3 bassists and a keyboard player for the price of JPJ"...

(JPJ played both bass and keyboards)...

if that's true.. that's FUBAR...

if it's not.. JPJ should have been there anyway...

my .02...

but they really could have saved money by hiring a guitar player fifty times as good for one tenth the price of Page...

Perhaps I don't remember it correctly, but didn't they just use Plant's touring band when they did this reunion thing? Plant was probably WAY more comfy with just having those guys around than bringing JPJ back into the mix.

Besides, didn't they promote themselves as Plant/Page and not LZ?

VH is a total debacle now. I have zero interest in seeing them live. The whole idea of a tour seems like jackassery - DLR hasn't sung well for a long time, Eddie is a mess with the rehab and all, and there is no reason for bringing your kid on tour to play bass.

Beyond that, it'll be very hard to listen to any new material without bias.

That kid is a ****...did you watch the interview where he just stands there like a mute Ozzy Osbourn. He has his sunglasses on...probably because daddy told him to wear them and yes...the chain wallet is still rock??? That kid will have a short lived career...probably as long as the tour lasts...2 weeks.

VH w/out MA is ****!

That's pretty hilarious. It's true of Eddie Van Halen too. I not only wouldn't pay to see this hideous reunion tour, I wouldn't go for free. To put this in perspective, I would probably go to Kelly Clarkson or O-Town for free.

Quick ninja edit: Actually, I might go for free just for yuks. But I know I would regret it.
